Has ayone heard of this new book by Stephenie Meyer?
A brief synopsis: taken from google book search...The Host: A Novel - Google Book Search "The author of the Twilightseries of # 1 bestsellers delivers her brilliant first novel for adults: a gripping story of love and betrayal in a future with the fate of humanity at stake. Melanie Stryder refuses to fade away. The earth has been invaded by a species that take over the minds of their human hosts while leaving their bodies intact, and most of humanity has succumbed. Wanderer, the invading "soul" who has been given Melanie's body, knew about the challenges of living inside a human: the overwhelming emotions, the too vivid memories. But there was one difficulty Wanderer didn't expect: the former tenant of her body refusing to relinquish possession of her mind. Melanie fills Wanderer's thoughts with visions of the man Melanie loves-Jared, a human who still lives in hiding. Unable to separate herself from her body's desires, Wanderer yearns for a man she's never met. As outside forces make Wanderer and Melanie unwilling allies, they set off to search for the man they both love. Featuring what may be the first love triangle involving only two bodies, THE HOST is a riveting and unforgettable novel that will bring a vast new readership to one of the most compelling writers of our time" Unbelieveable how blatant things are becoming! Reading the discription made me ill... I'm praying for the protection of anyone who reads this "novel".

Nope, never heard of her. One of those that would be good to avoid, I think.

I've been working....a lot! In addition to work, I had a 2 cousins get married, a nephew get married, an uncle pass, 2 ballet recitals, end of school, and have been job hunting....Kit is a very busy girl! I've missed everyone... The book is one that I saw at Costco...it had a huge sales poster, and stacks of the book...When I read the back cover, I about choked on the "sample" I was eating... This is why I don't bother with fiction anymore...I love reading, but too much of what is out there is pure garbage.

There is good fiction out there, you just have to dig for it.
Dee Hendrickson is good. Beverly LaHaye. Bill Bright did a series called The Great Awakening. It was based on the revival waaay back in the pre-revolutionary days (U.S.A.). While the main characters are fictional, it does base itself on actual events and historical figures. I only read one, "Fire", and it was very good! There is another series called The Lion of Judah. Its set in early Christian days, but cant remember the author. My library has a sticker system. On the spine of the books it has a sticker to designate what genre it is and that helps. Its not always accurate, but helps narrow down the search! They have a magnifying glass for mystery, a ufo for science fiction, I think a cowboy hat for western, and a cross for Christian books. Frank Peretti and Tedd Decker are good, but they are a little off the wall. Depends upon what you like to read.

Well, I have read two of Stephenie Meyer's Twilight series books. As an avid reader, I am always "testing" books out, especially popular ones, and not only books but movies, television shows, etc. etc.
It was interesting, but I'm not crazed over it, like some people. I think we need something a little bit more original these days with most of the YA (Young Adult) books. Some of the storylines and what they revolve around have become so overused it's not enjoyable anymore, because you've read another set of books with something like that. I just wish they didn't make a movie out of this series, for the fact that 1 - they were going to obviously change the plot 2 - the actors...don't even look like the characters in the story, or even closely resemble them 3 - the movie is never going to be as good as the books - is there any movie that was as good as the book that it was based off of?

Moveis are never as good as the books. The only ones that came the closest was the Lord of the Rings series.
And my mistake, its Dee Henderson, not Hendrickson.

I saw the promo for Stephenie Meyer's movie and I mean, the characters look totally off from what she described in the book. Also, they changed the last scene up, to make it more "exciting", but it really ruins it for people who haven't read the books. And for the people who have read it. |
