Unhappy Psalm 37:4

Psalm 37:4

Can someone please explain this verse to me? Because it's really quite frustrating to me, maybe cause I don't understand it. Maybe cause I don't have enough faith in it.

I mean, 'the desires of your heart'. I'm sure it has been many people's desires to get married and start a family, yet it never happened. Then what does this psalm mean in this case? I thought God gave us these desires of our hearts?

It's been kind of a bad day and sometimes my future seems a little hopeless. So I need an explanation of this verse if anyone can help. Thanks.

I don't wanna go through the motions. I don't wanna go one more day without Your all consuming passion inside of me. I don't wanna spend my whole life asking, 'What if I had given everything instead of going through the motions?'
I can take even your greatest mistake. Every scar, every tear, every break. And I can turn it into something more beautiful than you have ever seen. So lift them up to Me. All the broken pieces.

Who am I that the Lord of all the Earth
Would care to know my name.
Would care to feel my hurt?

But because of what You've done.
Not because of what I've done.
But because of who You are.

Hey this I got from the website your provided. It tells you about the passage. Just click on one of the little small gray squares.

Psalms 37:1-6

When we look abroad we see the world full of evil-doers, that flourish and live in ease. So it was seen of old, therefore let us not marvel at the matter. We are tempted to fret at this, to think them the only happy people, and so we are prone to do like them: but this we are warned against. Outward prosperity is fading. When we look forward, with an eye of faith, we shall see no reason to envy the wicked. Their weeping and wailing will be everlasting. The life of religion is a
believing trust in the Lord, and diligent care to serve him according to his will. It is not trusting God, but tempting him, if we do not make conscience of our duty to him. A man's life consists not in abundance, but, Thou shalt have food convenient for thee. This is more than we deserve, and it is enough for one that is going to heaven. To delight in God is as much a privilege as a duty. He has not promised to gratify the appetites of the body, and the humours of the fancy, but the desires of
the renewed, sanctified soul. What is the desire of the heart of a good man? It is this, to know, and love, and serve God. Commit thy way unto the Lord; roll thy way upon the Lord, so the margin reads it. Cast thy burden upon the Lord, the burden of thy care. We must roll it off ourselves, not afflict and perplex ourselves with thoughts about future events, but refer them to God. By prayer spread thy case and all thy cares before the Lord, and trust in him. We must do our duty, and then leave
the event with God. The promise is very sweet: He shall bring that to pass, whatever it is, which thou has committed to him

If we delight ourselves in Him then the desires of our hearts begin to line up with His Word and His will for us. This puts us in a position to receive the blessing He desires to give us.

As I understand this verse, it doesn't mean that God will give us whatever we want (apart from Him), but that as we make Him the centre of our lives He will place His desires within us, so that the things we want most will be what He wants for us. For instance, I know some people are afraid to truly surrender to God in case He might ask them to go to Outer Mongolia or some other end-of-the-earth place. But if we are delighting in Him - if He is truly the most precious, wonderful, beautiful thing in our lives - then if He does want us to go to Outer Mongolia, we will find that becomes the most desirable place in the world for us.

blessings,

Lynn

God's people will receive their needs as they trust God , commit their lives to Him and delight in serving the Lord. People, enjoy serving the Lord.

I think we need to back up and look at the verse before where it says trust the Lord and do good. Live in the land and feed on truth.

I think we are all basically saying the same thing here only in different words.
