Default Don't Argue

Just a reminder not to argue. Try not to prove Christianity to people with your new found logical views and knowledge. I think many people are pulled further from Christ this way, as the ones who argue against Him spend a lot of time getting good at it. You can be swayed either way and I say chances are people will be swayed away when these arguments occur, because of the sin in them and their distance from God/ draw to live for the desires of the enslaving flesh.

If you tell someone something that makes them think, first thing they're gonna do is run and find something that proves you wrong. They'll think they've found it, then keep living their lives, thinking lowly of you and your God.

Maybe it wasn't a good idea for "VenomFangX" to post his videos on YouTube. See people are getting lost in their minds and thinking they're wise. God and His works are reality. Science is the PARTIAL and INCOMPLETE study of this reality - by men. So they, thinking, they're wise, keep from Him and keep other fools form the truth. And the bible says that exactly that would happen. It's a heart problem. Deciet is HUGE, but lucky are we who have the King of the universe holding our hand and need not question Him.

I cannot see the Holy Spirit allowing me to argue and convince people using those arguments anymore. Except to take down the lies as they come up - not to try and prove anything with my words.

Don't you think that willing ignorance is also dangerous, though? Rather than fight against people who argue against God, I constantly make provisions. An atheist who snubs you or is hostile is none of your business; move on about your life.

"Can you prove that God exists?" The answer is no; I don't need to, my faith doesn't require me to know.

Evolution vs. the Bible is an argument for another day. Yes, it can be argued that biology and geology contradict Young Earth Creationism, but if you believe in Young Earth Creationism then you should learn the scientific arguments of Young Earth Creationists anyway, not for debating but for your own education.

And of course, disproving young earth creationism doesn't disprove the Bible, much less God.

1 Peter 3:15

If I am confronted about my beliefs I will always be ready to explain why I believe it. I think it is best to explain why, and yes, even argue the points if they try to throw anything at it (though perhaps what I think of when I say argue is different from what you think of).

Science takes in information and spits out hypotheses that are then reviewed by various people in order to buff out errors overtime. It does not claim absolute truth, and that is the POINT of science. Science is investigation. Do you think the truth has something to fear from investigation? Why?

Arguing does not generally change any ones mind and often does irreparable harm.

'Arguing' is different from 'debating' though, which I don't think there is anything wrong with. Ever seen Kirk Cameron and Ray Comfort's debate between athiests Brian Sapient and Kelly? Kirk and Ray kept their cool and debated in a calm, respectful way and in that showed their light to everyone.

I think if we didn't come back with reasons to prove athiests wrong, we'd have very little to debate with. That's why I'm doing so much research on creationism. If I didn't have those books, I'd have nothing defending creationism. And they'd have all these reasons to believe the Big Bang.

Anyway, I think it's bad to argue but good to do some research.

The Kirk and Ray vs Brian and Kelly debate was funny. Really I don't feel that either side made a good argument.

Agreed- study to show thyself approved 2Ti 2:15 and be ready to give answer in season and out 2Ti 4:2- but sadly most of the debated I have seen (not all) degenerate into arguments. It depends on the maturity level of the people involved.
For example I can talk politics with some of my friends and we can wildly disagree with no hard feelings and walk away as friends- others start to get upset at a drop of the hat. It is up to me I guess to know who is who and how they will react and what their maturity level is.
I will say this- I have never sat by in any public place and let anyone criticize my Jesus or the Word of God- still I avoid arguments when I can.
I base my reaction on the situation and I try to season it with these thoughts:
Rom 12:18 If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men.

Pro 18:19 A brother offended is harder to be won than a strong city: and their contentions are like the bars of a castle.
