I was looking at a number of videos of the Airbus A380 and other Airbus planes and I am surprised at how BIG this thing is.
Seriously, what is the need to the Airbus? I really do not see how we can fly a huge airplane like that during these times of SKY HIGH gas prices (imagine the fuel bills for that load of metal....). This reminds me of the Concords. Everybody wanted to get on one cause they were like, what super fast. ![]() I wonder if the Airbus will become as popular as the Concorde was...? I do not think I can see myself flying on those things - they're absolutely HUMONGOUS .

Well my dear ..... Only the rich will be able to afford it. Not this little retiree.
Times have already started with the lay off of 2, 000 jobs in Air Canada's biggest airline and they are cutting flights. Air Canada jettisoning 2,000 jobs, cutting flights to cope with high fuel costs - Yahoo! Canada Finance

Does anyone know much the flight tickets are? Even if we could purchase one, I STILL WOULD NOT FLY IN THIS THING!

Actually, the key is economy of scale. In the automotive world, a bus that gets 5 mpg carrying 40 people is more efficient than a car that gets 40 mpg and carries 4 people. (200 people/miles/gallon vs. 160) The same principle applies to the airbus, provided they configure the seating to optimize capacity. Also, the drag will be less per unit mass (aeronautical engineers, please correct me if I'm talkin' ignernt).
I'd fly in it, as long as I could have a window seat.
