I grew up in a family where my grandparants were christians [strong one too], so my mothers family had christian values. I grew up as boy at home quiet but outside talkative a little guess was trying to fit in, I did not drink alcohol, I regarded it as bad, after how the life of my dad was messed up by it, didnt smoke, never had a girlfriend (even now), but forcincated much (not now but see them my sister by the grace of Jesus Christ), a hardworker in school and getting good grades which eventually got me to good grades. At home was regarded as a good person, but I know that the things I liked, things I thought, things I did in private were evil, suddenly as I grew older my language changed, the way I talk to mom changed etc. But on the public eye was a good boy who is serious in life. But when the Lord chose to save me from the pit was in, He showed how bad was I am and I repented. Then for two years again was back in evil ways which people didnt for were done in dark places, but as the word say " God is not mocked you reap what you sow". The fruits of evil started to manifest in my academic work, failed for straight two years in varsity and end up excluded. But the good Lord( I love Him), decide to pick me up by His grace, yeah when it plesed Him He saved me, and God revealed His Son to me, to preach Him to everyone ( That am doing now and wil be doing in future by His grace). The first thing God did was to teacch me to depend upon His grace (even now He is continuing to teachi me and that teaching wil be forever till I died if Jesus tarry), He gave me the desire to read His Word, and taught me to pray (although don't pray often as I should ). The things I struggled at, He wiped them away as I continue to seek Him, soak into His word and there are still more things I struggle with but by His grace He gives me victory daily and the self dies daily by His grace, He gives life to this mortal bidy by His Spirit. The books that He leaded me to read they taught me about His grace. The first book that fall into my had was "the gifts of the Holy Spirit" , " Faith", " How to beat burn out", etc. All this they tell me that He does the Job in me. Yesterday with my brethren He gave me a revelation of the verse above, this life we should live by Faith in the Son of God, and He Himself will take away our infirmities or weakness day by day as we humble depend on Him for sanctification and with the obedience that His grace grows in us we will soon bear fruit of the Spirit called self-control which will prevent us from most sins (I suppose), as this is seen the fruit of love, joy, peace, meekness etc, appears as we enjoy our perfect fellowship with the Father though our great Friend Holy Spirit Himself, and with the Gifts He has given to all of us he will edify us until the Christ is formed in us. Amen Hope this help someone and relevant to the discusion

3-Nails, I would not go to the Mormon friend's church if I were you. I came out of that church and it pretty much mixed me up because it is a cult, not Christian, which I found out later. Yes, the Book of Mormon is very interesting and it sounds pretty plausible, pretty believable, if you don't know much of anything else about God. I felt good working for my Salvation, as they teach. At least I felt like I was "paying my own way." But, no one could pay that price except Jesus. He gave His salvation to us freely and only wants our lives and our fellowship with Him to be free from sin and no debt is included in this. It's free to all who come to Him. In the Mormon Church, they keep you very busy working toward that Celestial Kingdom so you can "live with God when you die." But it's all made up by Joseph Smith, who was led by Angel Maroni to believe all this stuff. It's pretty complicated and you really get into it trying to understand. After awhile, you begin to realize that you are going over and over it, all their instructions, and you have to do certain things like wear undergarments and be worthy to go to Temple, etc., which encourages you do work more. They become your whole life until you are afraid of living without them and the activities they involve you in. And, like a cult, you could not investigate other religions anymore, nor read anything but Mormon approved literature. It really sucks you into their culture and I would advise that you do not go, if you have not already. You will feel really welcome at their church but there is truly a spirit there that will not want you to leave them. They are really good people, but sadly misled by these spirits, who keep them in bondage. I would never have left, had not a fiend introduced this forum site to me. I read the posts for a long time until I felt comfortable joining in. And I'm so glad I did. You can private message me if you have any other questions about the Mormon Church. Bonnie |
