Going out in the rain is good. Very good.

I only went out for a minute, then decided I didn't want to be outside for some odd reason.

I think he was talking to you, he just didn't realize you're sister not brother. XD

3nails: Isn't it great that you have a site like this for all the great advice you can get.
Its always nice to know you have people who care.
In my growth as a Christian I was trying to do all this stuff to become a better (perfect) Christian. My wife would even give me the " and you call yourself a Christian" statement.

Then I realized, if I was perfect, I would never have needed Christ. He now lives in me. He is a constant voice in my heart that guides me through my day. I have now a built in moral compas. New Christians need to grow and mature like a human baby,... slowly but eagerly.

I screw up lots but I know the line I am supposed to be walking and strive to walk it.
Thats the best I can do till I'm taken home of He comes to get us.

Being a Christian is not about what you have to give up but about what you gain. I would not trade one day with my Father to gain the whole world. No friend, no possession is worth the relationship I have with my God. Get alone with God and tell Him you love and need Him- you will see that it is all worth while.

Here is a song for you my sister:

That is a good song. I blast it through my house sometimes and make my mommy cry.

Amen to that!

When I became a Christian, I got down on my knees and told God how I felt and why I needed Him in my life. I told Him I was so sorry for doing so bad after all He'd done for me. I saw how much He loves me, and I wanted to return that love without condition.

I asked Him to do this for me, do that. Teach me how to be this and help me to learn that.

He did. Oh, it wasn't easy! One of the best ways to learn how to keep from pounding your finger with a hammer is to whack it good and hard! After that, you'll be extra careful never to whack your finger again. God answered my prayers and is making me a better person by helping me through the obstacles. He's a loving Father, Who isn't going to pick me up and place me on the other side of my obstacles...but give me the resources that it takes for me to get through the obstacle course. I wouldn't learn anything if God did everything and I never learned.

Sometimes those lessons are painful. But when it's over...I'm a stronger person who is better able to handle life's problems. I can look at that problem again in the future and laugh and shake my head and declare boldly that God has taught me how to deal with this, it's not going to bother me.

God can give you a map, but He isn't going to walk the journey for you. He'll give you a ladder, but He might not pick you up and place you on the roof of your house. It's up to us to put forth the effort and to climb the ladder one rung at a time.

He loves us and He wants us to learn. Sometimes the lessons are hard and painful...but He never gives us more than we can handle. And if we feel that it's too much for us to handle, all we have to do is fall down and ask for His help. He'll give it to us.

When this life is over soon, and I'm able to give my Christ a big hug, all of this will be worth it. All of it!

God bless you everybody!

Thanks Bro Larry, the song was great, and the vid too =)

that aside though...Wouldn't we have to be perfect to reach His standards? Wouldn't a perfect father want His child to be perfect too?
Jesus was perfect..wasnt he?seems uphill..

You will never please God in your own strength. If you could Jesus would not have went to that cross- selah.

I can do all thing through Christ who strengthens me but in myself I can do nothing. If I struggle to "be a Christian" and do the "things Christians do" I will be burned out, exhausted and frustrated. If I take each step in total dependence on Him and total submission to His leading it is a normal thing to get through the worst trial and the worst temptation with almost no effort.
This burn our and frustration is simply a sign that we are trying to do it on our own.
When you face a weakness simply cry out "Jesus help me"! Then walk believing you have received the power- this is a faith walk and will always result in victory. Spending n more time with the Lord will soften and change our hearts until our life's desires began to conform to His and we become free to receive the blessings our Lord had for us.
Walking with Jesus is about freedom, joy, peace and His imparted righteousness. It is about overcoming in His strength and not ours. When we depend on Him the most He is the most glorified in our lives.

Here's something Boanerges sent me that I know will help you. I, too, have fallen into the trap of trying to obey on my own strength. I hope it is OK with him to share it because it helped me loads.

Re: Holy Spirit
Gal 3:1 O foolish Galatians, who hath bewitched you, that ye should not obey the truth, before whose eyes Jesus Christ hath been evidently set forth, crucified among you?
Gal 3:2 This only would I learn of you, Received ye the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?
Gal 3:3 Are ye so foolish? having begun in the Spirit, are ye now made perfect by the flesh?

Legalism is the poison on which the Church is suffering.

Have you been reading the daily devotion this last week? It is the Holy Spirit who empowers and leads us into obedience. Do not put the cart before the horse. It is God who causes us to will and to do His good pleasure.
Through the book of Acts you will see the Holy Spirit falling on brand new believers. These came to faith in Christ but had no time to obey or disobey. Also remember that even though these disciples were obedient they were men of like passions to all of us. Each had their weakness and all are capable of stumbling.
The largest mistake I have seen in many a Christian is basing God's acceptance and willingness to move in their lives on the ability of their own efforts. This is legalism and cannot please God. If you get right down to it we have never been good enough nor will we ever be. We can please God only by accepting the righteousness of His Son through faith as our own. All these things are a gift from God and one does not earn a gift but freely and graciously receives it. Check out this weeks devotions here for a treatise on the very same subject.
