Now, i must say before any of this. I was not raised up to strictly use 1 translation of the Bible over the other. this is just something ive picked up and realy thought about in the past year. but im afraid i dont have enough information.
i like the KJV and NKJV b/c i dont think the Bible is supposed to be easy to read.. b/c think about it. .thats why the old testament isnt in Chronological order. if you could read straight through the Bible with understanding.. why would you ever read it again.. but since it IS hard to read, it makes you study more.. makes you read things more than once.. but anyways... heres my question. Which translation of the Bible is best? i personally use only King James and New King James Versions. I used New International Version for a while but i found that it actually leaves out whole verses in the Bible. among several other problems i have with NIV version..i know that i do not like it. it. But what about all these other versions. there are so many diferent translations.. but ive heard good and bad things about some.. i hear that some try to be gender friendly and make it where God can be a He or a She depending on how you read the Bible.. ive heard that some change the meaning by altering words from their orriginal context.ive heard so many bad things ive also heard that some versions are really good translations.. good for study, reference, and easyer to read. I would just like to hear everyone's thoughts on this please. 1)What translation of the Bible do you use? Why? 2)What are your thoughts on other translations? 3)Why would you NOT use a certain trainslation of the Bible?

Before I answer your questions, I would like to comment on your opinion that the Bible "should be hard to read." I disagree. Why would our Heavenly Father design his book to be hard to read? Besides, if it read like a child's storybook, I'd still would come back to it because it is so rich with detail.
As for the NIV. I have and use an NIV Bible, and yet to have any issues with "missing verses." I used to bring it it bible study classes where the NKJV was used in order to expand on verses and help them make more sense. I love the NIV because of it's plain, almost conversational approach to the English language. Which translation is best? It's all in personal preference. There are some translations that leave a lot to be desired. There are some that to me do not flow well on a literary scale. And then there are some that fit me best. I personally love the NKJV and NIV. But I won't shy away from any other version. 1)What translation of the Bible do you use? Why? If I could find them all (some are still boxed up from moving 15 months ago), I have about 26 Bibles. A vast majority are different versions. Currently I use the KJV (Prophecy study Bible), NKJV and NIV most of the time. 2)What are your thoughts on other translations? Being that the English language is a living language, common phrases will always change. And because of this, I have no issues with any other versions of the Bible. I do feel that some leave a lot to be desired in execution, but all in all it's really God's Word. 3)Why would you NOT use a certain trainslation of the Bible? The only time I would not use a "bible" is if it has it's roots in organizations that take on the appearance of Christianity, but is clearly not on the inside. I am sure most will understand where I am coming from on this statement. |

With that being said I don't particulary care for the "designer" bibles, no matter what translation. The extreem series and many of the devotional ,purposed and heavely comentaried bibles. Sincerely His Cliff
