Default "Leave her alone, she's ours."

From Dr. Grant Mullen

“Leave her alone, she’s ours.”

These 5 words changed my life.

“Leave her alone, she’s ours.”

These words sent chills up my spine and caused every hair on my body to stand on end. I was terrified. Here’s how it happened.

I was interviewing a depressed person in a hospital room. In the middle of the interview, her eyes glazed over and a voice came out of her and said “Leave her alone, she’s ours.” I quickly realized that I was no longer talking to my patient. A dark invisible force had pushed her aside so it could talk directly to me.

It didn’t take me long to realize that I was being deliberately intimidated by an evil spirit. I was not prepared for this. I didn’t know what to do. What would you have done?

I don't know about this...

"We" don't have any authority at all except that which is given by God above. He has all authority, there's no special power in us, I believe.

Like when I hear a reverend calling the church group to come forward and lay hands on the sick or raise their hands to heal someone...I'm like: What?! The healing isn't in our hands. We have no special healing powers. God is all of the power, God is all good.

When we stand face-to-face with a demon and declare that we have authority and the power to send the demon out, nothing's going to happen. Because we don't have authority, we don't have power. Our Father has the power, our Father has the glory. He can send that power through us...but it doesn't come from within us. Know what I'm getting at?

It's like that book, The Secret, where the author teaches that anything you want or desire, you have the ability to gain that something by using the special hidden powers from within yourself. You have the power to make your dreams concrete and possible. *pfft!*

I don't believe that. We are powerless and weak. When we call on our Father, He channels the power through us, for His glory. If he sees that we believe and have faith in Him and that our needs are not selfish (I want to cast out this demon so that I can tell other people, maybe write a book on it and make some money to buy a schnazy car), He will grant us whatever we ask. Even the Holy Spirit, the presence of our Savior, the light, the Word, and evil runs from that. Evil doesn't run from us alone. Without God, we're nothing. Evil would laugh in our faces. Beckon us to join it. Tempt us.

It's not ours, but the Father's glory. All authority, all power, all understanding is His. We're His children, yes we are. We can't take His authority and turn it into our own, for the purposes of granting our own wishes.

I don't know...that's what I thought of when I read that story. *shrugs*

I agree when you said, "Without God, we are nothing." But when we became Christian, God gave us the authority to cast out demons. Not that it came from within us, but it is a God-given gift to us. If it came from within, we wouldn't have to say, "In Jesus' Name"

Mark 16:17 "And these signs will follow those who believe: in My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues."

Jesus gave the Church the Authority that is in His Name for the glory of God.

Mat 10:7 And as ye go, preach, saying, The kingdom of heaven is at hand.
Mat 10:8 Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give.

Joh 14:12 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.
Joh 14:13 And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.

Eph 1:18 The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints,
Eph 1:19 And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power,
Eph 1:20 Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places,
Eph 1:21 Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come:
Eph 1:22 And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church,
Eph 1:23 Which is his body, the fulness of him that filleth all in all.

IHL - agreed.

But the story - to me - just sounded like someone saying, look what I did! Or look what I can do! I have these special powers in me!

Nuh-uh. We're men. That power that we're so proud of...it's God's. It came from Him for His glory. The glory should stay there.

Thank you, please drive-thru. (it's Fri and I just feel cwazy.)

I agree with that 1000%- all glory belongs to God.

I agree!!! God is the reason we have that power and we should not take any credit.

I agree with your other post, Whirly, and this one.

I think in my opinion, when we try to use our own devices (i.e., ourselves and what we think might "help"), we usually only make things worse. But with God, He gives us the authority to rid of these evil spirits.

Like these stories about Hell and all that: I find it hard to believe some of them. Do we really need all these descriptions of Hell to get the perfect idea of what it is like? IMO, I don't think I want to know. And, anyways, the Bible gives us a wonderful description! XD
