Bible Couldn't go to church today. Share highlights of your sermon w/ me

How about sharing the highlights of today's sermon at your church? I couldn't go and I think it would be a nice way to spend the rest of my Sunday - reading what God gave you today.

Can’t help you there. I don’t have Church for another 4 hours. Ours is in the evening. We are going to have a teaching on discernment tonight. Part 3 of 5. Last month I got attacked severely, but I think I’m pretty much covered today.

I might suggest reading the sermon on the mount… that’s one that will never get old.

God bless you

Pastor Steve talked about sickness and healing. Accepting and even taking pleasure in having sickness, even such as cancer, because by it you can glorify God. Seen a testimony of a woman who had a bone meril thing, and she talked about how if her sickness brings one person to Christ, it was worth it to be sick and die of it. We all breathe our last breathe at some point. "More important than what happens, is how you react to what happens."

Talked about Moses. How you need only the faith of a mustard seed. How God certainly can and does perform miracles today as He did with Moses. Havign fiath that He'll use you, but also acceptance that it may not be what you expect or want, and you may suffer greatly in this life. But beign for for His glory is what matters. Letting His grace show in our lives to glorify Him. In our sickness, in death and in life.

Had some great worship songs such as:

YouTube - My Savior My God By Aaron Shust

Talked about worship. What it is. It's one thing to worship to your favorate songs...

The service was SO great for me. I was with Pastor Steve all the way the whole time. I was quiet, but I was shouting out in my head, causing quite a riot spiritually.

Hey Granny,
I will try to summarize our sermon for you …. Titled .....“ On Fire for God “ Taken from 1 John 1:8 – 2:2

Before ascending to heaven , Jesus told His disciples that they would receive the power of the Holy Spirit ( Acts 1: 8 ) , so that through them, His ministry would continue. This power of the Holy Spirit was not only for a few apostles, but even for those who were just afar off; even for us today. Some ask “ But wasn’t this power just for the privileged in the first century ? No , Read the Great Commission as recorded in Mark 16:15-16, and you will see it is for all those who believe.

The heritage of the church is to be so equipped with power that God can lay hand on any member at any time to do His perfect will. There is no stopping point in the “ Spirit –filled life" . We begin at the cross , the place of disgrace, shame and death, and that very death brings power of resurrection life. Then, being filled with the Holy Spirit, we go from “ glory to glory’

Acts 1: 8 says “ you will receive power, after the Holy Spirit comes on you “. The scripture is clear- once we are baptized with God’s Holy Spirit we have received a Powerful gift. A gift that enables us to pray with authority; to share our faith with non- believers; to pray for the sick expecting them to be healed and to grow more Christ – like every day . We need this experience every morning upon waking. “ Don’t leave home without it “

1 John 1-8 says we have to acknowledge that we have weaknesses. We sin every day and no one is perfect. Definition of sin is described from a term in archery “ missing the
mark “
We need to confess and receive forgiveness. And empty ourselves of pride.
Our standard is to be more like Jesus.

I went to a different church today, different from my usual. I had been getting these teaching tapes for sometime now, and my daughter lives in the town where his church is at. (sorry, Duane Sheriff Ministries) It was great!
His message: Faith: Living by Faith
Faith is not an option, we live by it and it pleases God. The three cooperative powers (or governing principles) that work in conjunction with faith is Hope, Love and Patience.
Proverbs 13:12 He mainly focused this morning on hope.
When hope is deferred, it makes the heart sick. He knew of a whole congregation that was sick at heart. And it was because they had had preachers come in that had a heart for, say, children. And would get them fired up and then before they could get anything accomplished the higher ups would send that preacher to another place and send them a new one that would be on fire for something else. And on and on it went. So when he finally got there, and he was on fire for something, they loved his sermons and loved him, but there were no changes. He met with some of the elders and they explained to him what had happened in the past. Now he understood. Their hope had been deferred so many times, they were sick at heart, and didnt want to get their hopes up again. How sad.
He said that when we dream, envision something, hope for something, and it comes to you, then it is like the tree of life.
Fascinating. Those people that are on fire for God, have a zeal for Him is not because of their personality or character, but because they have had their hopes realized. They have seen God moving. They have seen answers to prayers.
We need to get our hope up. If we dont have hope, faith has nothing to bring to substance.
Romans 4:16-18
Galations 5:6
Hebrews 11:1

God declares your end at your beginning ( you may not be there now, but you will be!)
God quickens the dead- He can revive dreams
Abraham believed and hoped against all hope
Faith works in hope
Mark 11:24
Alot of people pray too fast and dont get their hopes fired up, or their dreams fully envisioned and then only go halfway, quit before they see anything happen.
Hope, believe and stand!
Put your hopes in the right place
And never discourage those that are hoping.
Imagination-in Hebrew the word is Conception.
Genesis 5:6 and 8:16 man's imaginations was so polluted by the enemy, judgement came to cleanse it.
Your imagination can work against you or for you.

Hope is of the soul
Faith is of the spirit
Sould and spirit work together
Hope and faith work together.

(I hope this made sense, I was using my notes I had made and had a little trouble keeping up!)

Highlights:

Putting on the full armor of God.....

Some of the armor is for defending, and some of it is for attacking......

Just because you close your eyes doesn't mean no one can see you..... similarly, when it rains a child think the sun is not out, but really it is. Closing our eyes to what is around us doesn't mean that it isn't there ready to strike us. Must be prepared not just to defend, but also to act.

The enemy isn't always planning a specific attack for someone, he may be planning an attack in general...... like setting up a mine field..... and whoever gets hit just happens to get hit. It is not aimed at a particular person, just a particular people (God's people).... and while we may be on the winning team, it doesn't mean that all of us will make it to the end. So, we need to be ever watchful and vigilant, preparing ourselves.

Our sermon was on the Psalms 103.

Psalm 103 (New King James Version)

New King James Version (NKJV) Copyright © 1982 by Thomas Nelson, Inc.

Psalm 103

A Psalm of David.

1 Bless the LORD, O my soul;
And all that is within me, bless His holy name!
2 Bless the LORD, O my soul,
And forget not all His benefits:
3 Who forgives all your iniquities,
Who heals all your diseases,
4 Who redeems your life from destruction,
Who crowns you with lovingkindness and tender mercies,
5 Who satisfies your mouth with good things,
So that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.

6 The LORD executes righteousness
And justice for all who are oppressed.
7 He made known His ways to Moses,
His acts to the children of Israel.
8 The LORD is merciful and gracious,
Slow to anger, and abounding in mercy.
9 He will not always strive with us,
Nor will He keep His anger forever.
10 He has not dealt with us according to our sins,
Nor punished us according to our iniquities.

11 For as the heavens are high above the earth,
So great is His mercy toward those who fear Him;
12 As far as the east is from the west,
So far has He removed our transgressions from us.
13 As a father pities his children,
So the LORD pities those who fear Him.
14 For He knows our frame;
He remembers that we are dust.

15 As for man, his days are like grass;
As a flower of the field, so he flourishes.
16 For the wind passes over it, and it is gone,
And its place remembers it no more.[a]
17 But the mercy of the LORD is from everlasting to everlasting
On those who fear Him,
And His righteousness to children’s children,
18 To such as keep His covenant,
And to those who remember His commandments to do them.

19 The LORD has established His throne in heaven,
And His kingdom rules over all.

20 Bless the LORD, you His angels,
Who excel in strength, who do His word,
Heeding the voice of His word.
21 Bless the LORD, all you His hosts,
You ministers of His, who do His pleasure.
22 Bless the LORD, all His works,
In all places of His dominion.

Bless the LORD, O my soul!

Good messages one and all. I won't go into todays message but I will try to tell you of the Word Pastor Frank had for the body today as the Holy Spirit moved on Him:
I was in the spirit on the Lord's day when I heard a voice call unto me "Come up here my beloved- come and see things you have never seen- come and hear the angels sing- come and see the healing I have for you- come and see the freedom I have for you- come and see the blessing I have for you- come and see the plans I have for you".
This is not verbatim and the message went on for a while. We had just finished a worship service that could only have been topped in heaven itself, the power of the Holy Spirit was filling the place and the anointing was powerful to the point of no description. If not another Word was spoken I could have stayed there, soak and saturated in the presence of my wonderful Lord- He is as always breathtaking in His beauty and glory.
One more thing- the supernatural manifestations of the Holy Spirit are to be expected more and more. The supernatural is going to be quite natural for those who are filled with His Spirit. The Church has been seeing multiple spontaneous healings occur mostly during the worship services but also during the preaching of His Word. Needless to say it was an awesome service and I cannot wait to see what the future brings.
