I do not believe so. I'm sure that if given enough time, we would find the propensity to go into all kinds of things sinful, which Jesus gave simple commands how to work against them.

I'm not saying it's easy, nor am I saying that every case is the exact same in degree. However, the full facts are that God, in Christ, has given us the full power to overcome all forms of disease. Trust in Him, period. Whether it is sexual, drugs, drunkeness, worry, or depression.

Are you afraid? Trust in Him.

Are you depressed? Trust in Him.

Are you overcome with worry? Trust in Him.

Are you on the verge of poverty? Trust in Him.

I do not believe a person has to know the full depths of a person's bio-chemical makeup in order to solve their problem.

Jesus said to trust in Him 2000 years ago, and that advice is still good enough for today.

I apologise if this sounds rude but you are talking rubbish.

To compare the bio chemical causes of depression with what you term a bio chemical propensity to stray to homosexuality, drink and telling lies simply displays your lack of knowledge.

Further to suggest that one can only be depressed if one is not trusting in God is again rubbish.

I again apologise for this harsh reply but having been a Psychologist, a Counselor and a Lecturer in both Psychology and Counseling for over 25 years I do actually know what I am talking about and attitudes like yours have caused great problems to many people.

They are scientifically inaccurate, biblically unsound, psychologically dangerous and I simply can not allow them to pass unchallenged.

Please be careful real depression is a serious illness and can lead to death. Your glib answers could easily cost someone their life.

Do not give advice when you are not qualified or trained to do so. I would never tell someone to stop taking prescribed heart medication. I am not trained or qualified to do that. I leave that to the cardiologist who knows what he/she is doing.

As I mentioned it is dangerous to simply assume that the cause of depression is the same for everyone. There are many causes. That is why trained professional help is needed.

In some ways it is like a headache. That could be caused by, among others, tooth problems, eye problems, lack of sleep, stress, a bang on the head, blood pressure problems etc, etc.
Yes Ray.... I completely agree with you. This person needs trained help and as you said there are many causes that if he does not seek a professional can be very dangerous as possibly needing some meds to correct the problem and if not treated could be fatal. Not trying to scare the person but as a retired nurse,. also all avenues must be checked.

AS A MODERATOR:

This thread is being closed. It is the opinion of the moderator team that such subjects are generally best addressed by professional counseling. Encouraging and praying for others is admirable but we are not here to diagnose or medically treat anyone. Thank you all for your caring participation.
