Default Reap and Sew

Coming back from being lost in idolatry for so long and understanding that we will in fact reap what we sew is not very attractive. I know we will reap what we have sewn but is there something in the word that will lessen the blow that is inevitably looming over my head in the near future? I understand that He will be with me through it and I am sure of forgiveness so I am only looking for something inside the word of God as a sign of hope and something to hold onto.

After my recent revelation and break from the idolatry I have had too much time on my hands and I find my self falling into "other" sins which I don't wish to continue in either. I need to find something to do with my time off (which I have a lot of) to do something constructive. Can anyone throw out some suggestions? My free time is during the mornings when most people are at work and there isn't a lot of anything going on during that time. When I am at work I use to chat in the game forums for hours and now I am finding myself drawn to websites which do not have any real moral compass. I come here during that time and I am trying to read the bible online, I just feel "bored". What should I do?

Hey Kris,
Psalm chapter 91 comes to mind,

To help with being bored maybe you could try some volunteer work feeding the poor or something like that.

I believe the reaping and sowing cycle can be broken by a change of direction.
God knows that when we were in sin that we were captive to it.
I suppose there are some things that seem harder to reverse, like if we made a bad financial decision, it might seem that we cant get out of it, but even then, providing we turn to God's way, He can change that.
One of the best things you could do with your time is study the Word, listen to teaching tapes etc. and pray.
You might think 'boring', but I promise, as you sow into the Kingdom, you will see massive changes in all areas of your life.
I heard a famous preacher say just the other day, 'the worlds way of doing things belongs to Babylon, and God's way delivers us out of Babylon,'
it really spoke to my heart,
so many people think like the world, even as Christians,
they act like the world, investing in and using their money in the worlds way, if we would just listen to and obey God, and do it His way,
we will see changes in our lives that we couldnt have imagined.

Most (if not all sin) is the result of a yearning or vacuum in our hearts. God built this yearning into us and it has a legitimate purpose- it is to cause us to seek Him. Yet if we do not fill our hearts with God and the things of God then our flesh will seek to fill it some other way. This never offers more than short term satisfaction and often leaves one full of guilt, remorse and sorrow.
Out flesh becomes use to being in control and finds little attraction in thinking of God and His kingdom in any more than a cursory sense (to sooth a conscience?) and yet all true fulfillment resides in His presence. Your very reason for creation was fellowship and relationship with God. It is in that relationship that glory is brought to His Name .You will find who you really are and your specific calling and purpose in His presence. No were else will truly satisfy your soul.
You mentioned sowing and reaping my friend- it is now time to sow to the Spirit. Put on some worship, read the Word, read a book by an anointed man of God, help someone in need by reaching out with His love- sow to the Spirit.
A wise man once said " Habits are children of our choices"- it is now time to develop Godly habit patterns - it is time to reap the good and right harvest my brother.
Many blessings in His Name, your brother Larry.

That is exactly what I was going to say. There are so many places in church for volunteer work.I am on the pastoral care team and visit the sick in the hospital, visit shut in seniors, volunteer in the hospital in a recreation program. Not tooting my own horn but just giving examples. We have a local newspaper that is always looking for volunteers. Pick some thing that you like and run with it.

I am not working and am never bored.

The Mystery of Seeds

Then Jesus said, "The kingdom of God is like a man that
plants seed in the ground. The seed begins to grow. It grows
night and day. It is not important if the man is sleeping or
awake; the seed still grows. The man does not know how the
seed grows. Without any help, the ground grows grain. First
the plant grows, then the head, and then all the grain in the
head. When the grain is ready, the man cuts it. This is the
harvest time."

--
Mark 4:26-29 (ERV)

The Kingdom of God is progressing toward an end. While we may not fully
understand all that goes on, we can be sure that it is growing, and
when it comes to full maturity, the harvest will come. There is
movement and mystery, but ultimately, there is harvest. We also need to
understand this about the Kingdom: the power of the Kingdom moves
despite our lack of complete understanding about all that is going on
in this work of God. One thing is certain, however; when all things are
ready, the harvest will come. The one question for us is whether or not
we will be a part of this movement and mystery?

Ezekiel 18
Quote:

27 Again, when the wicked man turneth away from his wickedness that he hath committed, and doeth that which is lawful and right, he shall save his soul alive. 28 Because he considereth, and turneth away from all his transgressions that he hath committed, he shall surely live, he shall not die. 29 Yet saith the house of Israel, The way of the LORD is not equal. O house of Israel, are not my ways equal? are not your ways unequal? 30 Therefore I will judge you, O house of Israel, every one according to his ways, saith the Lord GOD. Repent, and turn yourselves from all your transgressions; so iniquity shall not be your ruin. 31 Cast away from you all your transgressions, whereby ye have transgressed; and make you a new heart and a new spirit: for why will ye die, O house of Israel? 32 For I have no pleasure in the death of him that dieth, saith the Lord GOD: wherefore turn yourselves, and live ye.

I read this today and it spoke to me. I am forgiven yet the consequences are still going to come. God doesn't say that he will save you from them; He says that he will be there to help us through them. Much Like David and his adulterous affair, he was not spared the judgment he received the judgment and received forgiveness and guidance to help him through it.

When we ask for forgiveness a lot of us think that because we have been forgiven we are now going to escape the consequences as well which is far from the truth.

I received forgiveness for my idolatry and I am very surprised to actually have 0 urge to play the game at all. the account is still active so I have the ability to log in and play when ever I want too. god has removed the desire completely which He deserves praise for.

Thank you for your prayers and Thank you for your continued prayers I hope His response to my plea lifts your spirits as much as it has lifted mine.

Rom 4:7 Saying, Blessed are they whose iniquities are forgiven, and whose sins are covered.
Rom 4:8 Blessed is the man to whom the Lord will not impute sin.
