Question Does GOD expects us to be deeply religious?

Hi there,

What’s the difference between a deeply religious person and a religious person?

How does this apply to Christianity? Does GOD expects us to be deeply religious?

cheers

No! He exspects us to be deeply commited to Him! To love Him with all of our heart, our soul, our mind and our strength. It is not about religion, but our relationship with Him!

While their is biblically define religion that is pleasing to God:

Jas 1:27 Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.

Our goal as Christians is to know Christ and He leads us into works.

To be deeply religious (as we understand religion) is to have a deep reverence and love for God.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again- to say that Christianity is not a religion but a relationship takes all meaning out of both words. All religions seek to create/augment a relationship between God/gods and human beings. It is like the Muslim custom of saying that there are no converts to Islam, only reverts, because Islam is the natural state for all people. Just because you came up with the slogan first doesn't make it more true for you than for anyone else.

I agree with Remnant. We are supposed to say committed to Him.

God-defined religion is pure and wholesome and true.

Man-made religion is a whole other story.

Jesus came here not condemn, but to save.

Nature is God's gift to us. He loves it as much as He loves us, and we should give respect to Nature because believe it or not - it takes care of me and you more than you know.

Respectfully I disagree. The common conception of religion is not the same as Christianity and in fact is generally the antithesis's of it.

To a certain extent, yes, but I still think that "It's not a religion; it's a relationship" is a meaningless slogan.

We don't agree om much but lets agree to love each other in Jesus Name.
My issue with calling it religion is that there are so many dead works based religions out there. They seem to feel that fulfilling ritual or obligations is all that is needed. Christ came to restore us to the original intent of man's creation which is relationship and fellowship with God. All works (and religion efforts?) should flow from that intimate relationship. It is only their that our spirit is filled with His presence- works without God's direction and power are useless. So yes it is a relationship and many are missing out on this very vital fact.
