No! Most of the time is through His word! The word of God should be so active in our life that it guides us in all situations. Psalm 119:105 105 Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.

Also in Psalm 119: 97-104
97 Oh, how I love Your law!
It is my meditation all the day.
98 You, through Your commandments, make me wiser than my enemies;
For they are ever with me.
99 I have more understanding than all my teachers,
For Your testimonies are my meditation.
100 I understand more than the ancients,
Because I keep Your precepts.
101 I have restrained my feet from every evil way,
That I may keep Your word.
102 I have not departed from Your judgments,
For You Yourself have taught me.
103 How sweet are Your words to my taste,
Sweeter than honey to my mouth!
104 Through Your precepts I get understanding;
Therefore I hate every false way.

I think sometime people put too much emphasis on emotions or feelings as a guide when the word of God should be our main source. Who is the word anyway?

If you feel the Spirit moving you to pray for somebody would that be considered emotion? Or an overpowering feeling to give, or praise the lord out of the blue.

I'm trying to be more focused on how the Holy Spirit guides my life. And I agree focusing on the Word is the first step.

But I would like to find more insight/experience from other people on how they use it for guidance.

The time is come for us to be a people who are filled with the Spirit, hear the Spirit, walk in the spirit, who
fellowship with the Spirit, who are led of the Spirit, who are caught up in the Spirit, who have vision in the Spirit, who have purposed in the Spirit, who speak thru the Spirit, who have life in the Spirit, who mind the things of the Spirit, who through the Spirit put to death the things of the flesh, who bear the fruit of the Spirit, who move in the gifts of the Spirit, who intercede in the Spirit, who know the will of God in the Spirit, who are mighty in the Spirit, who for the love of the Spirit strive together, who have revelation in the Spirit, who judge in the Spirit, who are justified and sanctified in the Spirit, who manifest the Spirit, who drink in the Spirit, who pray in the Spirit, who bless with
the spirit, who receive life form the Spirit, who have freedom in the Spirit, who are changed from glory to glory by the Spirit, who minister by the Spirit, who wait thru he Spirit, who restore in the spirit, who sow to the Spirit, who are sealed with the Spirit, who are built up together by the Spirit, who are strengthened by the Spirit, who keep unity in the Spirit, who are renewed in the spirit of their minds, who take the sword of the Spirit which is the Word of God, who make pray and supplication in the Spirit, who stand fast in one spirit, who worship in the spirit, who have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit and love one with a pure heart fervently , who if reproached for the Name of Christ are happy for the spirit of glory and of God rest upon us, who has an ear to hear what the Spirit is saying to His church, who rest in the Spirit, who are carried away in the spirit, who have the testimony of Jesus which is the spirit of prophecy, who cry out even so come Lord Jesus!Perhaps it is time we dare to believe God and enter into this deep fellowship that we are called to- we don't need to look far for :
Know ye not that you are the temple of the Holy Ghost- you are God's holy of holies now- and He is our Paraclete -
the one Jesus sent to walk beside us, teach us , lead us, guide us, draw us, fill us, sanctify us and fellowship with us-

let us not grieve nor quench Him- even the great Apostle Paul wanted to go his own way but yielded his plans and changed the course of his apostolic journey at the Spirit's direction- it is time we do the same- in His Name Larry
Awesome!

Sure I pray for people and I also am led by the Holy Spirit in a lot of ways. Would I call it an emotion, No! Sometimes I am moved to emotion because of what the Holy Spirit does and reveals to me.

The Holy Spirit gives Joy and that is an emotion, but He also causes conviction and that to can be an emotion that leads to tears, but He guides mainly through His will for our lives and sometimes it comes through a small voice, but most of the time it is revealed through the word.

You say you want more insight into how you can know the leading of the Holy Spirit. Well, the best thing you can do is get into the word and allow it to be active and living in your life. Then when you need guidence you will know what the will of God is for you in that perticular situation.

When we are touched by God we are generally moved in spirit, mind and body. Emotion by itself is only that but very often is stirred as God moves in our lives.

I will know by what guidance the scripture gives on a topic?

So if you are moved to emotion by what the Holy Spirit is working in you, isn't it working through your emotions?

We are the glove- the Holy Spirit is the hand that fills and empowers that glove to do His will at His direction. I have yet to see anyone really touched or moved upon by God who did not have their emotions stirred but that is to be expected. In fact if one thinks they can be really touched, filled and moved by the Lord God and not have their hart stirred I think they are mistaken. Emotion or feeling is part of the way God made us to respond but it is a by product and not the prime product.

I'm really excited to continue growing in the Holy Spirit, I've never felt a focus or desire this strong, and I pray it'll continue.

This is after all God's will for you and it is the drawing of the Holy Spirit that you are sensing. He is our Paraclete or the One who walks beside us. He is with us 24/7 and is wanting to be a part of all we do yet most tend to ignore Him. That is not your hearts desire or you would not be sensing His gentle lead to follow Him deeper into death to self and life in Christ.
Many blessings and much love in Jesus Name, brother Larry.

Default Holy Spirit

I have that feeling too, Tyler. I know God wants to use me and the Holy Spirit wants to have more of my life and to lead me. I have just learned to be still and not anxious, but go slowly at learning all I need to learn because, in a way, I'm scared of it. I've seen the H.S. work in many others and can't imagine myself being in the position. But, He still is leading me, I know.

Bo, I remember the message you gave once and just repeated here. It's awesome! I sent it to the pastor of the church I used to attend and he really appreciated it.

Also, Bo, your quote: "The Holy Spirit speaks to your inner man and imparts truth by revealtion. He is to be involved in every aspect of your walk- as many as are led by the Spirit of God these are the Sons of God. It is a deep knowledge that bypasses thought and goes straight to knowing." Can you imagine that's how it will be when we communicate in Heaven? Maybe we will just "bypass" thought and go straight to knowing what the other person/angel is "saying."
