I am positively Word minded. To be positive without God and His Word is fruitless but to walk with God and have revelation in His Word is to be positive that His promise is true and He is ever faithful.

I am definately reminded of His Word and as I think , talk or write His Holy Word is there in my spirit. So I think I am am word minded or reminded and as a Christian we should always be reading His Word so that we can be word - minded. Good thought Nathi and I never thought of the Word that way. You did make me think.

I also think as a Christian we should be positive in our thinking because who wants to be around a negative person ? So we have to be word - minded as well as positive.

I meant should a Christian be positive minded or Word minded?

By Word minded I mean to trust and rely on God and His promises in His word.

For example: Lets say you having trouble time in your life i.e storms, to bring in yourself comfort or hope which words would you say:
  • " God said He shall never live me nor forsake me so I believe I will be alright becuase God is on my side" In this case you were quoting His word or
  • would you say "I am positive everything will be alright, won't let any negative thought come on me etc." etc?..........hope I am clear.
My quetion is should a christian be positive thinking or Word minded or they work together?

Ah, I think I see now. Thanks.

One more clarification: In the example above of "positive thinking", are you alluding to a positive attitude in general, or more of the new-agey law of attraction philosophy which says that positive words/thoughts will bring positive things and vice versa with negative words/thoughts?

Yes I meant the red part, its just that I get a feeling that some christian are leaning to that new-agey law as you put it.

Oh, then YES I very much agree with you.
I have seen this too among Christians, in my own family, actually. Their philosophy becomes almost indistinguishable from The Secret/Law of Attraction-- except instead of looking to "the universe" to grant your desires, they look to scripture. I don't know. It's just like a lot of things- the intentions were probably good, but some take it too far.

Going back to your earlier example:

Quote:
Lets say you having trouble time in your life i.e storms, to bring in yourself comfort or hope which words would you say:
  • " God said He shall never live me nor forsake me so I believe I will be alright becuase God is on my side" In this case you were quoting His word or
  • would you say "I am positive everything will be alright, won't let any negative thought come on me etc." etc?....
Personally, I would pray something more along the lines of "Lord, I trust in you. Have mercy on me and deliver me from this trial. Don't let my family get hurt in the storm. I trust in your mercy. Through Christ, our Lord. Amen."

Word minded is the answer otherwise we end up putting our faith in our own positive statements rather than in the promises of God.

When asked what he thought of the teachings of a new age positive thinking guru Norman Vincent Peale an old professor said this-
I find Paul appealing and Peale appalling.
There is nothing wrong with positive thinking as long as your thinking revolves around God's Word.
I worked with a fellow and I was explaining to him how faith in God could move a mountain. He replied that he had faith that he would win the lottery. Attitude like faith should have a focal point. I am very upbeat and optimistic because I know my God has given me favor and is blessing me.
