A good quote indeed sis! I prefer( at His lead) to do both when possible. A great man of God I once knew told me that it is sometimes necessary "to build a bridge of friendship that will sustain the weight of truth"- I think he was also wise. Like Paul the great Apostle we must become all things to all men to reach them for Christ. This does not mean to partake of their mistakes but it does mean to reach them where they are and share the love of Christ.

The Apostle is definitely a great example. Of course he did use words-- probably more effectively than anyone else ever has aside from Jesus himself. But then his life was emblematic of everything he preached about. The crosses he suffered under, his constant travelling and evangelizing, His committment to Truth above all else, the affection he had for his companions and fellow disciples... Like Francis, I think St. Paul is a perfect example of "practice what you preach." |
