I'm not exactly sure, I've seen the dove with the olive branch in his mouth on many occasions...I've wondered that too!

Are you referring to the peace sign? As in hippies, flower children, peace signs and love beads?
If so, it is actually a dove's foot. Dove being the symbol of peace, but why the foot, I dont know. How would it be breaking the second commandment? And what connection do you see? (just curious)

That was definitely what the circle with the upside/down broken cross symbolized during the flower-power time. I still think it probably does though I don't know. I would avoid it like the plague.

Leonidus - You are refering to the 'Dove of Peace'. It is the Biblical symbol of the end of Noah's Flood when he sent out a Dove to determine if land had been uncovered as the flood subsided. It brought back an olive branch and Noah then knew that the flood was over and life could continue off of the arc. It is the symbol that Christians have generally adopted as a sign of 'renewal and rebirth'.
