What a great link (I have just finished the first one)!
Organized religion has paralyzed the body of Christ. Most are taught (or assume) that Church is a place were you go a few times a week and either perform rituals or hear messages. The Church should be a vibrant living thing moving into the lost world with His heart and power. This is the governmental structure God gave the Church: Eph 4:11 And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; And this was their purpose: Eph 4:12 For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: Eph 4:13 Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ: The day we see the Church (which is the people) get out of their pews I will know that Christ's return is indeed near as the dead in Christ shall rise first.

I saw a brilliant 'Title' the other day it said, The Church has left the building !
Amen, we have become to structured to hierarchal, we need to get back to what God intended which was our gifting being a function and not a title. I say, Lord, bring it on !

WOW! This is exactly why I haven't gone to church in five years. It has become a spectator sport and a ritual.
I think Jesus had the idea that believers should live their lives among the unsaved rather than gather in a 7 million dollar building with thousands of dollars music ministries, lights, microphones......five minutes of meet and greet and an hour of sermon and 8 minutes of singing. etc. etc. He sent them out with NOTHING! He said, take nothing with you!!! Thank you Dean......this is making me weep with gratitude..... GLORY TO GOD!!!! HALLELUJAH!!!! THANK YOU JESUS!!!! |

Very Interesting, Especially the first one because it really speaks volumes to why so many believers are leaving the traditional church setting.
The other two, I need to listen to closely before making any statement or judgment about them.

It is pretty interesting. Although I left a "simple church" and embraced a "traditional" one. I personally believe that it's the exact opposite. These people leaving for the "simple churches" are still searching and I don't think they'll find satisfaction and ultimate happiness in all the good feeling stuff.
From what I've noticed with these "simple churches," they lack a lot of substance and more emphasis is put on feeling and how it makes them feel to worship God, not how God wants us to worship Him. That's my 2 cents on the matter. ![]() Christ is Risen! Glorify Him! Andrew Last edited by Ayia Sofia; 04-16-2008 at 12:25 AM. |

This was soooo good for me at this time because I just left a performance church where I didn't have a chance to ask questions, just watch the people. They all seemed to know what they were doing, but I didn't want to become like them. I happened upon a simpler church, where I can attend small classes and it has been wonderful. Thank God they are now springing up.

Each church is completely different so a blanket statement like that is not applicable but we can each go only by our experiences. In mine the more traditional the dryer, deader and do not seem to have the power of God in them- but that is only my experience and I am quite sure that does not apply everywhere either.
I can say this though- I never experienced the anointing of God until I was allowed to get out of my seat and minister to others in Jesus Name. Most are really dying on the vine for lack of use- in my experience.

I attend a “Simple Church”. Just this last Sunday night at Church, we had a discernment teaching. The chairs were formed in a circle. We could all see every one else’s face. No one had to look at the back of someone’s head. We had practical application. People practiced their discernment. It all started with one woman praying for me because I had a headache. After our teaching was over, my headache suddenly got very severe. Everyone stayed and prayed for me. Evidently I had an open door from something and satan wasn’t happy with me for what I’ve been doing lately. We did a little bit of ministry. Broke some soul ties. Repented of some generational stuff… I started feeling better, and then we all had a bite to eat and chatted for a while. It’s more like a family gathering and less like what we call, “churchy church”.
I like my simple Church. If someone has something to say, they are allowed to say it. After all, we are all equal parts of the Church. God is no respecter of persons. Blessings to all. Dean (and don't forget... my Pastor rubs my feet, just ask Whirlwind) I like my simple Church. ![]()

Hi all,
Here in Western Australia we call it "house church" Personaly I really enjoy it as there is no fixed order of worship. Some believe this is the way God is moving as He prepaires His church for the future. It beggs the question though, will the stuctured church come to an end? Maybe maybe not, I like to say let God be God and build his church as He pleases. Many believers I've met who join "house church" have not been to church in a long time, so it seems to help them back into fellowship, thats gotta be a good thing.
