They're getting ready to straighten out a highway that runs through our reservation.

We had a meeting the other day and they were saying that the highway, the way it is, is far too winding. So they're going to straighten it through some other forests.

"So people can drive faster?" my co-worker asked. "That's crazy! They already drive fast enough!"

I agreed with her. The reason they think that a winding road is dangerous is because people get into accidents on that road. And the reason they get into accidents is because they're driving 77 miles per hour in a recommended 45 zone.

Slow down! Smell the roses! Look at the beautiful scenery God has given us! If you're in a new car, why are you in such a rush to get there and get out of that new car? If you're late, then you're already late...being a little less late isn't going to matter now, is it? Hee hee.

Leave the woods alone. Keep the road where it is. Slow down. Everybody will be fine.

why not build cars with a maximum speed of 80,and not 280.less fines i expect governments need money from somewhere, always go to the root of a problem, not glorify trying to fix mistakes.

Most consumers refuse to buy cars that can't potentially double the speed limit. They'd prefer to blame environmentalists for the high cost of filling the tank instead of themselves for their gluttonous purchase.

Nobody - I mean nobody - lets me get behind the wheel because I refuse to break the law.

I swear...I go 55 all the way. My friend, Preston, recently told me that I drive like an old grandpa.

I don't care. The law says 55 for a reason, and that's what I'm going. You can't imagine the honking cars that pass me, the fingers I've seen, dirty looks, etc.

Oh well...I'll be turning 39 next week...so I must be doing something right.

It has been done before with limited success Mike. The manufacturers will continue to build what the public wants as opposed to practical. If fuel costs get high enough you may see many of those things take care of themselves though.

It's kind of funny, because my mom owns a Porsche Carrera, and she only drives 40 - 60 at the least. I do get scared when she goes fast in that car, the Porsche can go up to 280 mph, I believe. And when we go fast, we go fast.

We have speed laws, in certain countries, there is no such things as speed limits.

There are certain roads in Germany where you can go as fast you want with sports cars. Lots of people die on that road from fatal accidents from driving over 120 mph. It's terribly hard to control a car driving that fast, the tires can't keep up with the car and you'll eventually go out of control. Especially on wet, slick road.
