  1. Biblical passages concerning blood; stance of a reform group
  2. Witnesses' stance on procedures involving blood other than transfusion
  3. Cases involving blood transfusions

The old testament admonition not to eat blood may affect their choices. The scripture declares the life is in the blood and you can plainly tell that many Jehovah's Un-witnesses die without it.

Jehovah's Witnesses' believe that the OT prohibition of not eating blood is continued in the NT. The Mosaic law did prohibit eating blood, but of course said nothing about transfusions which weren't even around back then.

According to the council of Jerusalem it is still in effect in the New Covenant. The question arose, "What parts of the Law had to be kept?" and the council came to this decision...

Acts 15:20 (NASB)
but that we write to them that they abstain from things contaminated by idols and from fornication and from what is strangled and from blood.

Acts 15:29 (NASB)
that you abstain from things sacrificed to idols and from blood and from things strangled and from fornication; if you keep yourselves free from such things, you will do well. Farewell."

These things were of course written in reference to idol worship and sacrifice.

Default Witnesses founded by a charlatan

As far as thw Jehovah's Witnesses go, they were founded by a Charles Taze Russell, who claimed that "everyone else is doing it wrong". He came up with his own translation of the New Testament, even though neither he nor his cronies could read or write Greek or Aramaic (kind of necessary if you want to translate ancient documents). Their doctrine is strongly anti-Christian, i.e. Jesus is not a person of the Trinity and he is also known as Michael and Apollyon. There is other similar silliness throughout their doctrine. They have been claiming the "end of the world is at hand" regularly for over a hundred years. Somehow their poor performance as prophets hasn't enlightened them that something might be wrong with them.

I read it too smelly cat, very sad.
The trouble is the JW's are still living under law, thay try to please God by working hard and doing this stuff, not realisng it was fulfilled in Christ.
However I am not in favour of routine blood transfusions only absolutely neccesary ones, for the health reasons that we have seen affect many that receive them.

You're right Jax. There have been many who contracted hepatitis and HIV here through blood transfusions. Now the H. I .V. that were infected are dying but they are still fighting with the gov't for compensation.
