In the past...
Dreams of the present... My words are vapid and bring no warmth, even the breath used to voice them is cold and now remains silent. Love without love is nothing. I need hope. Something stirs in the night and disturbs the stillness of the silence. Without hope nothing else matters. Condemnation from within and without it comes cold and in abundance. The hour is at hand, the choice needs to be made. Fight or fly, either way something is going to change. Change is good, I need hope within. My children, my wife... and my life. Save me... Have mercy. Forgive my weak and unstable heart. Depressed. |

I have been there, the middle of the night is a strange time, I think our guard is down.
Start to worship, worship from your heart, nothing else is so powerful. God is in control and He wont let you be pushed more than you can bare. He has a plan, to give you a hope and a future. Worship Him.

As you walk this pathway called life and the deeper you get into His Word and understand all that He has for our present and our future, you will realize that to lean upon Jesus is our only hope.and a way of salvation. Then our words will never become empty.

Kris, here are just a few thoughts that came to my mind when I read what you said, "Condemnation from within and without it comes cold and in abundance.
The hour is at hand, the choice needs to be made. Fight or fly, either way something is going to change. Change is good, I need hope within." What if to repent meant "to think differently, to reconsider a change in our thoughts." I don't really know what it means, but once someone explained to me repent means to never do it again. But, how can we do that? I mean, we are weak, and in our weakness we do repeat slavery to sin. That's not clear to me. But, just for a moment, believe that you are going to repent in the context of changing your thought life. Start believing and confessing this, "I am a person of incredible value to Heavenly Father!" Look in the mirror if you have to and repeat it until you believe it. Just think about why He created us . . .to have fellowship with Him and to usher the lost sheep back to His loving care. We are important to Him, and sometimes we let the enemy sway our thoughts about our value. Just think how important you are to your children. I didn't have a dad who paid any attention to me whatsoever. I grew up thinking I was not very valuable to him. But, now Heavenly Father has taken place of what I missed. We read in Philippians 4:1 "Therefore, my beloved and longed-for brethren, my joy and crown, so stand fast in the Lord, beloved." That's who we are to Heavenly Father: His beloved and longed-for, His joy and crown." And He tenderly calls us beloved. Just take heart, my friend, in these words and know that you are very valuable to God. Bonnie ![]()

I look back at my life and realize that I resemble that of a small stone we use to skip across the top of the water.
The first splash is a big one when I am introduced to the truth and accept it into my life. I fly up into the air (Air being the world) for a long skip. The water is the living Word and each time that stone skips send ripples through the pond affecting the water in the entire pond. The second splash is smaller and less significant and has less impact on the people around me and the stone slows a little. It still skips back into the air again with a slightly different direction because of the influence of the water. The third skip is significantly slower because of the density of the water (word and the truth) and you see less effect on the water because the velocity of the stone has slowed drastically yet it still skips back into the air for a brief time. This time though you have more of the word effecting your flight The 4th skip is where you start to skitter across the water in very short jumps. This is very similar to my life as a Christian in these years because I am in the word more than I was before and the water (word) is having an increasing effect on my direction in life. After the stone skitters it sinks into the water being fully emerged in the word and understanding the path that I was taking was not the correct one and the water guides the stone to the bottom. The water is effected by the volume of the rock which increased the volume of pond.(adding your name to the body of christ. The world is the air above the water. Free flowing, stormy, windy and willing the stone to be throw any which way without much resistance. The word is the water. It’s refreshing and life giving, suggestive and influential as well as calming. God threw the stone. He gave you this life and it's your decision which way you are thrown and how far you fly. There are shallow pools and fast moving rivers. Remember that he will guide us by still waters and he restores our souls. Satan is gravity. He is what pushes us into the arms of our lord with his constant and relentless bombardment of accusations and hate towards us. God uses Satan to bring his children back to him during those skips in life. If i had all of the information up front, I would have rather been a millstone that cannot skip but sink immediately to submerge my whole life in the word and being a part of the body of Christ from the start. Most of us are still skipping through life. Which skip are you on? |

Kris, you have a gift to write things in a very descriptive thoughtful way, ask God to show you how to use this to help others,
I think our focus needs to be on that, otherwise ,we can become self focused, and that is destructive.

Thank you SweetSurrender,
The words and wisdom are appreciated. Pride = Prevents I look at my sin and think to myself, as a man would "I can fix this for greater glory." If I can overcome the sin in my life it will be a great victory for God and an even greater witness to the people around me. This thought is very wrong and it might even be supported by Satan himself. Up until a few minutes ago reading through the replies it dawned on me that if I could overcome my own sin, there would be no need for Christ in my life. Upon having this revelation I could see the folly of my actions, yet I cannot see the pathway back to where I began to go wrong. Our lord says we need to start at the beginning to find out where we went astray. I do not know where to start and I hope that my pride will not again blind me to the simple truths like it was capable of before. I guess I am just missing the direction I need to move in or should I be still and wait for direction...? Jax, I try to put color and dimension into the thoughts because it helps the readers envision what I am thinking at the time. I am not well read by any means and I thank you for your kind words. I enjoy discussing in depth things concerning the word and my personal experience and how they affect my every day life in hopes that it can help other avoid making the same mistakes I have made. In all truth my heart yearns to sing in a group setting again and to just enjoy the fellowship of those who enjoy singing as much as I have in the past. I don't know where to start but I do know that my ability to sing has been a thing of pride in the past which has been a source of self condemnation with plenty of ammo for the enemy to use. I guess I just need to get off my butt and do something rather than sitting here waiting for something to happen to me. |

I've found that the best place to start is right where I am. If I have wandered off the path and found myself mired in a bog, I fix my eyes on Jesus and slog ahead, doing what I know to do and I soon find myself back on the path again. For me, inertia and indecision are my enemies, which is why I suggest that you forge ahead in doing what you know to do, while waiting for direction in other areas.
