Hi, a Christian man called Jari Iivanainen (A Finn) is going to make the Bible program (websites) and he wanted to know what English Bible version is good to use in that program. The Bible program will include different subject areas with Bible verses. By that way you can find verses to subjects you are looking for.
You can familiarize Jari through his websites: Jari Iivanainen's websites The Bible program will be completed about June or July 2008, and I will inform about it all of you. Jari would appreciate your suggestion to which version is best to use that he can choose a good version to that program. I suggested to him KJV (1611), but he wanted to hear as much as possible suggestions, so thank you to you all, who will answer! |

Not trying to change the subject here, and I won’t discuses or debate it, but I think the KJV is just fine, or the NKJV.
I think my next choice would be the NIV.

KJV (1611). My favorite TV pastor, Arnold Murray, is always telling us how we should use this version in our studies; it hasn't been changed, and doesn't include the traditions of man.
In fact, this morning he was telling us how the people who made the NIV have now made changes to correct some things? They've removed a reference to a bird or sparrow, where the KJV says "to fly"? Also, he said translations can be dangerous. In one verse (I never catch the verse becaue I'm getting ready for work), the word satan is replaced with morning star. So he says be careful. Love you all!

I generally read the KJV or NKJV, but sometimes I just get a little confused on the way a certain verse is worded and I go to the NIV and then the meaning makes more sense. I believe the NIV also changed the word “iniquity/iniquities” to “sin/sins” in a lot of places. A friend of mine went through his entire NIV and changed the words back to the original with a pen. I guess you would call that the Richard translation.

If you read the history of the "Textus Receptus" on which the KJV was supposedly based, you will not be impressed. It too went through a lot of modification. It began as a race between two competing publishers and some of it was hastily translated from late copies out of a library as I recall. 1611 - Excerpt taken from Rick's E-Sword. Fortunately, here we don't have the added problem of the old fonts used in the original. Rom 1:15 So, as much as in mee is, I am ready to preach the Gospel to you that are at Rome also. Rom 1:16 For I am not ashamed of the Gopel of Christ: for it is the power of God vnto saluation, to euery one that beleeueth, to the Iew first, and also to the Greeke. Rom 1:17 For therein is the righteousnesse of God reueiled from faith to faith: as it is written, The iust shall liue by faith. Rom 1:18 For the wrath of God is reueiled from heauen against all vngodlinesse, and vnrighteousnesse of men, who hold the trueth in vnrighteousnesse. Rom 1:19 Because that which may bee knowen of God, is manifest in them, for God hath shewed it vnto them. Rom 1:20 For the inuisible things of him from the Creation of the world, are clearely seene, being vnderstood by the things that are made, euen his eternall Power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse: Rom 1:21 Because that when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankefull, but became vaine in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened: Rom 1:22 Professing themselues to be wise, they became fooles: Rom 1:23 And changed the glory of the vncorruptible God, into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birdes, and foure footed beasts, and creeping things: Rom 1:24 Wherefore God also gaue them vp to vncleannesse, through the lusts of their owne hearts, to dishonour their owne bodies betweene themselues: Rom 1:25 Who changed the trueth of God into a lye, and worshipped and serued the creature more then the Creatour, who is blessed for euer. Amen. Last edited by Jasher; 04-03-2008 at 12:50 AM. |
