![]() Today is the 2nd Sunday of Easter-- Divine Mercy Sunday. (Those who aren't Catholic here may not celebrate this feast day. But I thought you all might enjoy reflecting on the story of God's merciful love for His children, as told through scripture... )When I look at your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars that you have established; what are human beings that you are mindful of them, mortals that you care for them? Yet you have made them a little lower than God, and crowned them with glory and honour. You have given them dominion over the works of your hands, you have put all things under their feet. Psalm 57:1 Be merciful to me, O God, be merciful to me, for in you my soul takes refuge; in the shadow of your wings I will take refuge, until the destroying storms pass by. Is 1:18-19 Come now, let us argue it out, says the Lord: though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be like snow; though they are red like crimson, they shall become like wool. 19If you are willing and obedient, you shall eat the good of the land. John 3:16 For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him may not perish, but may have eternal life. John 13:34-35 'I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.’ Eph 2:4-8 But God, who is rich in mercy, out of the great love with which he loved us even when we were dead through our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ-- by grace you have been saved. James 2:13 For judgement will be without mercy to anyone who has shown no mercy; mercy triumphs over judgement. Whoever does not love does not know God, for God is love. God’s love was revealed among us in this way: God sent his only Son into the world so that we might live through him. In this is love, not that we loved God but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the atoning sacrifice for our sins. Beloved, since God loved us so much, we also ought to love one another. No one has ever seen God; if we love one another, God lives in us, and his love is perfected in us.

The challenge was to edit all the possible verses down to a just a few...I was trying to find verses that represent a certain part or point of the story (God's mercy for mankind). I realize now that I left out the OT, (except for the Psalms.) Everyone, feel free to add on if they want!
