The Bible never tells us to look for demons, rather, when we encounter them, to deal with thm.
I think too many Christians have an unhealthy focus on the devil and his works, they also blame a lot on him that is there own flesh or disobedience. Yes satan is real so are his demons, they are here to kill, steal and destroy, BUT, Greater is He who is in me, than he, that is in the world.

Heb 5:14 But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.
I believe this one is saying that we need to exercise… or practice… our discernment so that we know what is good and evil. Mat 17:19 Then came the disciples to Jesus apart, and said, Why could not we cast him out? Mat 17:20 And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you. Mat 17:21 Howbeit this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting. And in this one, I believe the disciples couldn’t cast out that demon, because they didn’t know what kind it was. I don't think they practiced their discernment enough for this kind of demon. Then Jesus tells them they need to pray and fast to be able to cast that kind out. I think a lot of people talk about the mustard seed verse, but don’t pay much attention to the verse before and after. That verse is basically surrounded by how to cast out a certain demon. How can we know to do that if we don’t know the demon? When the disciples encountered that one… they didn’t know what to do. Similar to the Lords prayer in Matthew 6. A lot of people think if we ask for forgiveness, we will receive forgiveness just for asking, but in the very next two verses, Jesus says “IF” we forgive… our heavenly Father will also forgive us. But if we don’t forgive… God will not forgive us. It was eye opening when I first saw those two verses. I believe it always helps to know how your enemy operates when fighting against him. We don't need to talk to the enemy to know how he operates, but we can learn about him and how he works.

I have studied demonology for almost 30 years. A list of demon names will teach you absolutely nothing. These will be, for the most part, names that various demons have used when the were worshipped as false gods in ancient times. When they were made, God gave them names, after the fall, the old names no longer applied and for the vast majority of the fallen, names are meaningless. There are no "demons of lust" or "demons of drunkeness", they all will attempt to promote moral failure in humans.
So, to wrap it up, to say that "Beelzebuth is a demon of idolatry" is meaningless, that name applies to hundreds of the fallen, and any of them will try to lead you away by idolatry. Demons are like rats, if you've seen one, you've seen them all. |

Many wise and thoughtful replies so far.
The first thing I thought when I read the OP is, "you don't need such a list"...I would feel like I'm filling my mind with unlcean things, with all this demonology info. (Most of it is purely subjective and non-authoritative, anyway.) I'm not saying that one can't be legitimately interested in such things, or have a good purpose for wanting to know more about it. But the bad dreams you had, Leonidus-- a big red flag, IMO. My advice is to pray until the interest passes. |

You can Google ANYTHING but WHY do you want to know, Brother? I can live without knowing their names. Once I heard of a name of a demon and it resounded in my head over and over til I had to really pray with all my might!!!!! NOT A GOOD THING!!!!!!! The name was similar to a relative of mine....... ![]()

Violet - one of my favorite songs when I was a teenager was Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen. I used to drive around like Wayne and Garth, screaming the lyrics out at the top of my lungs!
![]() Then I realized what it was saying: "Beelzebub has a devil put aside for me...for meeeee...for MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!" I felt so bad! For so long, I'd been shrieking those words without even knowing what I was saying. ![]() Of course, I fell down and prayed for forgiveness. I didn't know who Beelzebub was until later on. ![]()
