Default The Perks of Being a Favored Child

The Bible says that God is no respecter of man. But, it is also full of people whom God obviously had some degree of respect for. I believe that scripture is a conditional statement.

Abraham, for example, somehow got Gods attention. He was blessed with great wealth and made father of the Nation of Israel. Noah (and his family) was the only person spared when the great flood came upon the Earth. Elijah was made a great prophet and was given the gift which allowed him to walk in Gods power. He called down rain on a parched land. I’m sure he did other great things that were not documented. David was a shepherd who was made king of his people and was described by God as “A man after my own heart”. He was also blessed with great wealth. Solomon was a King who was blessed with more wealth than any other person in history to this day. Daniel was given great favor while in captivity.

Why? What was it about these people, and why are there not people like that today? What was different about these people? They had a great love of God and proved it through deeds. They had great faith in God and proved it through deeds. They had a great trust in God and proved it through deeds. And they were completely obedient to what they knew to be his will. Not what they thought to be his will, but, what they KNEW to be his will.

People today are not doing all of those things. They say that they are and even believe that they are, but in reality they are not completely turning over their entire selves to God. They say that they have faith, but they worry. They say that they trust the Lord, but they always have a “backup plan”. They say that they love the Lord, but hardly ever show it. They say: “Lord, I am yours”, but then continue to do their own thing. They will wait for years for a sign or message from God, when the only message they need to hear is right in front of them: “Love ME and Love Each Other”. Take that message and LIVE IT and you will get Gods attention. I am not talking about just loving in word as most people do, but actually loving in deed.

Personally, I want it all. I want all that God has to offer. I want to be able to heal the sick and yes, even raise the dead. I want to have great wealth, mainly so I can be a blessing to many. I want to walk in Gods power and be able to call down rain, or even rebuke a hurricane. I want to have perfect health. Not just good health, but perfect health. I want to be a person whom God can trust with anything.

Why do I want these things? I don’t really need them. I want them because God is blessed to give them to me, and when he does give them to me, I know I have done something that has greatly blessed him. I know that when I have reached that position, I can go to him, approach him, like the father that he is. I know that when I reach that position, we are best friends, and I am a favored child.

I am reaching out for it all because I know that is what he wants. I have made it my purpose in life to be a blessing to God and all whom I come in contact with, not just in word, but in deed. Anybody can do this, and that IS his will.

Well, these are Old Testament people, and they represent all people under the covenant. In the OT, God calls Israel his son, his servant. But in the OT God also calls the Messiah his son, his servant. Solomon had it all -- but a king in those days represented all his people, so that means as a group they had it all, because Solomon was their king. It's like "render unto Ceasar the things that are Ceasar's." But that means pay taxes to the government of Rome that is representing its people. Now we have Christ as the king, and he has it all, and thus as his people, so do we. It's not that way for the people not in his kingdom.

Huh? So you don't think that God will still bless as he did Solomon?
