Subject: A Christian

Several years ago, a preacher from out-of-state accepted a call to a
church in Houston, Texas. Some weeks after he arrived, he had an
occasion to ride the bus from his home to the downtown area. When he
sat down, he discovered that the driver had accidentally given him a
quarter too much change. As he considered what to do, he thought to
himself, "You'd better give the quarter back. It would be wrong to
keep it." Then he thought, "Oh, forget it, it's only a quarter. Who
would worry about this little amount? Anyway, the bus company gets
too much fare; they will never miss it. Accept it as a 'gift from
God' and keep quiet."

When his stop came, he paused momentarily at the door, and then he
handed the quarter to the driver and said, "Here, you gave me too much change."

The driver, with a smile, replied, "Aren't you the new preacher in
town?"

"Yes" he replied.

"Well, I have been thinking a lot lately about going somewhere to
worship. I just wanted to see what you would do if I gave you too
much change. I'll see you at church on Sunday."

When the preacher stepped off of the bus, he literally grabbed the
nearest light pole, held on, and said, "Oh God, I almost sold your Son
for a quarter."

Our lives are the only Bible some people will ever read. This is a
really scary example of how much people watch us as Christians, and
will put us to the test! Always be on guard -- and remember -- You
carry the name of Christ on your shoulders when you call yourself
"Christian."

Watch your thoughts; they become words.

Watch your words; they become actions.

Watch your actions; they become habits.

Watch your habits; they become character.

Watch your character; it becomes your destiny.

I'm glad a friend forwarded this to me as a reminder. So, I choose to
forward it to you - my friend. God bless you; I hope you are having a
wonderful day!

If you don't pass this on to anybody, nothing bad will happen; but, if
you do, you will have ministered to someone.

The Will of God will never take you to where the Grace of God will not
PROTECT you...

Stay FAITHFUL and Be GRATEFUL!

I just got this in my email. I’ve seen this one before and it is something I try to live by. I don’t think it was a coincidence that I got it again this morning. Yesterday at work, I was working at a house 22 miles away from the office. I had to have some keys cut and while I was waiting, I looked around the hardware store and I saw a VCR opening lock. It blocks the opening so kids can’t put their hands inside. I knew one of the other houses could use one, so I grabbed it. When the keys were done, I was at the counter, I laid the VCR lock down and got out the company credit card, paid, signed my name and I was done. I installed the new locks at the house and then returned to the office, it was already late afternoon and I got out the receipt to do the paper work. I looked at it as my boss was in the room and I said, “oh oh… I think I stole something”. I then told her what happened.

I remember now thinking as I was walking to my truck to go home that I wasn’t going to go all the way to that hardware store to correct the problem. It will cost the company close to $25.00 in wages and gas, and it really isn’t my fault. I didn’t notice it until I was done for the day and back at the office. This morning I realize that isn’t the point. I don’t think you’ll find the phrase, “you snooze… you loose” in the Bible.

I’ll be bringing that lock back to correct the problem. After all… the hardware store can’t correct the problem… they don’t even know about it.

I’ll be off to work now. God bless you all
Dean

Bless you, Dean! It takes a lot of courage to be as open and honest about yourself as that! Thank you for sharing not only the story, but your part as well. May it give courage to others to do the same and be honest in their dealings!

Thank you.
I returned the item to the hardware store today. I brought it in and said I was there yesterday and they missed it. I told them I want to make sure I pay for what I receive.

And in connection with another tread, that allowed me to close that door to keep satan out. It was a perfect example of how a sin opens a door and gives satan legal right to come in and harass me. I couldn’t just repent and say I’m sorry and ask God to forgive me. I had to go to the hardware store to make restitution. Even when it wasn’t my fault, once I learned of what happened, it became my responsibility, and to ignore that, is a sin.

Jam 4:17 To him therefore that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.

Great post! Thank you so much for this reminder of how we are to let the character of God be the character in our own lives. Though none of us are perfect, that's what it means to be like Jesus.

Thanks again.
