This weekend, as I watched some people dancing, it occured to me that men have always felt it necessary (and sometimes rightlt so...) to protect women...throughout much of history & literature there are stories of the men protecting damsels in distress....
Do you think Adam felt the need to protect Eve before the fall...? When do you think that men started feeling this need?

![]() I wonder.... if we placed all the men in one group who feel the need to protect women and stand up for them, and all the men in another group who blame women for all their problems.... which group would be larger? (I do have a suspicion of which group would be larger.) |

But if we look at Genesis 2:16, the Lord gave Adam the command not to eat of the tree.
Adam was responsible for Eve prior to the fall. A look at Gen 3:2 reveals that Adam did share that information with Eve, however he failed at his responsibility to protect her from the temptation. |

I do believe it is instinctual for us.

Gen 3:12 And the man said, The woman whom thou gavest tobe with me, she gave me of the tree, and I did eat.
Gen 3:13 And the LORD God said unto the woman, What is this that thou hast done? And the woman said, The serpent beguiled me, and I did eat. I don’t see Adam blaming it on anyone. He told God that the woman gave him of the tree and “I did eat”. He didn’t say, “but she ate first”. Adam fessed up and then God asked the woman and she fessed up. The way I see it, Adam told God two things, 1. The woman gave me fruit from the tree. 2. I ate the fruit. Could it be that Adam was trying to take the blame for eating the fruit? Was that the first act of protection? Either way, Adam was wrong. He was right there with her and didn’t stop her. It’s like if a woman has a shopping addiction and the man just lets her shop… who is to blame?
