Default Sin is sin

No matter how small, no matter how big, sin is sin. There is but one unforgiveable sin, all the rest can be washed by the precious blood of the Lord Jesus Christ.
While this is better than good news for us all it is also sad to say that some use this as an excuse to accept any kind of ungodly behaviour.
God said thou shalt not murder- I cannot come here as a murderer with intentions to keep murdering all the time trying to convince everyone that God is ok with my continued murdering. Yep sin is sin, we all stumble but we are not to have a lifestyle based on what God hates. God indeed acepts those who are struggling to get free and is forgiving when we stumble and repent but never mistake mercy and love for weakness. If one spends their whole life and lifestyle devoted to that which God hates and purposes in their heart to do so then that one will find themselves in dire straights on judgement day.

These are of course my opinions on the subject.

Boanerges! Here's a high five. Sin is most definitely a sin. It is so nice to know that others see it for what it is.

I have never felt the need to express this before but God has burned this into my spirit.
To tell a person that it is OK to live is sin is to be hateful to that same person. All who came to Jesus in His earthly walk sought repentance, healing and deliverance.

My favorite song on sin...I love to jam out to it in the car while I'm driving. My nephew thinks it's corny, but until he's driving he has to listen to what I listen to, hah!

YouTube - Sister Act 2 - Oh Happy Day

I agree in principle, but the human heart is deceitful, and what we consider sin in someone, God may be saying 'I will deal with that later'.
I have seen too many new Christians driven away by an unrealistic expectation from other Christians, that they have to deal with everything in one go.
God is indeed merciful, and He will work with any willing heart, He see's the reason why we are the way we are, He see's how much we can cope with , and He gradually gently, changes us.
I think if we focused more on Him, and less on sin we would be much more fulfilled.
We all know what we do wrong, I think most Christians are more encouraged by hearing that God is pleased with what they get right!
I dont mean to undermine the seriousness of deliberate wilful sin, that is indeed wrong, and shouldnt be tolerated, but for the vast majortiy of those of us that are born again and Spirit filled, we want to do the right thing, we want to be intimate with God, but we often let our fear of failure and trying to change ourselves under our own steam, get in the way.

A good song indeed. But it still begs the question do we deliberately live in sin and expect things to turn out alright? I think not. The only thing I can do is lean on His mercy everyday and depend on Him to lead me on a right path . I cannot do this and continually, willfully disobey His Word. I stumble , probably more than most but I will not purposefully live a life that cannot and will not bring honor to His Name.

Lets just say we agree on most of that. We all have tendencies Jax and we all need mercy but- if you choose to live in direct conflict with God's Word and live a purposeful rebellion to that Word do you think we are fooling ourself? That is what I am addressing here, not the stumbler ( which is all of us) but the deliberate rejection of God's truth.

Exactly.
To "deliberately live in sin and expect things to turn out alright" is in itself a sin of presumption. We can't pull a fast one over on God. He knows our hearts. True repentance includes a firm resolution to not continue in sin. Of course we aren't perfect, and we're going to slip and fall along the way...And we hope in God's mercy, through Faith. But I know I do have to stay honest, with myself and with God.

And you're right, to confirm someone else in their sin is not charity.

I think I understand what you're saying here, Jax, but the two are not mutually exclusive. The way I see it, the more we focus on Him, the more clearly and honestly we can see ourselves by His light. Should our goal be personally fulfillment or obedience to His will?

Repent, renounce all your sins, avoid all occasions of sin...Return to me, says the Lord of Hosts, and I will return to you. (Ezek 18:30, Zech 1:3)

andiclare - that's right. With God on my side, I can feel his love. And it's His love for me, my love for Him that I recognize sin by what He tells me in His written Word. He's beautiful from any angle. Flawless, isn't He?

Living in the Light, we come to know what sin is. We're driven from it, for fear of displeasing Him. We are transparent before God, He sees all things inside of us and out.

We're His children. It's an honor to worship and to ask Him to forgive.
