I've recently been doing a lot of thinking about Heaven. And I know nobody knows for sure what it's like. But I do know that it's a place where there's no sin, no death, and no tears. I can't even begin to fathom what that's like. I mean are we all just going to be frolicking without a care? Forgive me for saying this, but isn't that...boring? I mean part of what makes life...life is the friends that are there for you when you're upset. Or the joy of learning from a mistake.
Entertainment, for instance, would not be entertainment if it weren't for sin. It's true-find a really good movie where the conflict doesn't contain sin. You probably won't be able to. I am not sure what response I'm expecting...but is it possible that the way we see Heaven, is a place where it's just...too happy? I in no way am trying to underestimate the joy of Heaven. I'm not trying to make Heaven seem like anything less than awesome. Just...if you pictured Earth with no sin, no death, and no crying, it wouldn't be life...would it?

You are Mine, and you shine for Me too. I love you yesterday and today and tomorrow I'll say it again and again. I love you more. I don't wanna go through the motions. I don't wanna go one more day without Your all consuming passion inside of me. I don't wanna spend my whole life asking, 'What if I had given everything instead of going through the motions?' I can take even your greatest mistake. Every scar, every tear, every break. And I can turn it into something more beautiful than you have ever seen. So lift them up to Me. All the broken pieces. My Savior loves. My Savior lives. My Savior's always there for me. My God He was. My God He is. My God He's always gonna be<3 Who am I that the Lord of all the Earth Would care to know my name. Would care to feel my hurt? Not because of who I am But because of what You've done. Not because of what I've done. But because of who You are.

We'll surely recognize it, because it'll be the perfection of life as we know it. But there's no possible way we could conceive of it now. And we don't even need to! We can just hope! I've had thoughts like this before, I think a lot of people probably do. Paul tells us everything we need to know about what heaven will be like: "What no eye has seen, nor ear heard, nor the human heart conceived, what God has prepared for those who love him" (I Cor. 2:9) By the way, I'm new here...this is my first post! ![]() I'm glad I found this place. -andiclaire |

I look at it something like this: I love a good sunrise or sunset, or a well designed flower garden. I appreciate these things for their beauty without their having to be contrasted against ugliness. I enjoy these without any sense of boredom. In fact, to be able to sit and watch a sunset without the encroachment of extraneous noise or cares of the world or time constraints or distractions is wonderful. I experience both profound peace and a stirring within my soul as I contemplate God's glory expressed in nature. I fully expect that Heaven will be similar in that He is so beautiful, so magnificent, so dynamic, that our response will be exhileration rather than boredom. Just look at the glimpses we see of God's manifestations: Whirling wheels, whirlwinds, thundering voice, smoke, fire, lightning, thunder, earthquakes, etc. Hardly the stuff of boredom.
In any case, I, personally, am more than ready to cast off the turmoil, futility, and wickedness of the world and enjoy a realm where we live in harmony with one another and God, and where there is no injustice, no inequity, no animosity, no victimization or exploitation. I just can't fathom being bored or unsatisfied in Heaven. Perhaps you're thinking it will be like the future world in the movie "Demolition Man".

I don't care what we do in heaven. I used to wonder about it. But, now, all my soul hungers for is to see Jesus, the one who changed my whole life.
Sometimes when I am put into a situation where I'm around a lot of loud, heavy metal music and the room is smoky, and boustrous, I don't feel at home like I used to. I long to be alone with the Bible and God and just fellowship with Him. And then I do get homesick for heaven. This world is not my home.

SweetSurrender- it's true, we were made for another world.
Another thing I wanted to add in my above post: Perception is all about time. It's important to understand that God's time isn't our time, and Heaven will be in God's time. The whole of eternity in our world could be the blink of His eye. Or vice versa! We just don't know... |

I remembered this, it's one of my favorite quotes from St. Augustine of Hippo:
![]() Great are you, O Lord, and exceedingly worthy of praise; your power is immense, and your wisdom beyond reckoning. And so we men, who are a due part of your creation, long to praise you – we also carry our mortality about with us, carry the evidence of our sin and with it the proof that you thwart the proud. You arouse us so that praising you may bring us joy, because you have made us and drawn us to yourself, and our heart is unquiet until it rests in you. |
