Default Eating His Words

Couldn't go to sleep. Been reading His Word. I thought of something I read the other day found in Jeremiah 15:16 "Thy words were found and I ate them, and Thy words became for me a joy and the delight of my heart."

Why is it that, to some of us, when we start reading His Word, we just can't stop. And then there are others, like my husband, who hates to read the Bible and go to church. He goes to church just to please me, but I want him to go because he really can't wait to hear God's Word.

I got bold and asked him tonight when we were cuddling on the couch, if he "wishes he could hunger for more of God, but just can't, but if he did hunger, would he like it?" I wanted to pray for him that he would find himself hungering for God. He just said, "Oh, Bonnie, it's just so boring to me. Can't you understand, I'm a man. You just don't understand." I didn't know what to say. But, I will keep praying for him. "Nothing affects a man like the prayers of his woman," I've heard say.

I wanted to say, "Honey, there are a lot of men on my forum who are close to God, and I don't see them as weak. I think it a strength, not a weakness. But I dropped it.

Is there anyone in your life who doesn't hunger for more of God?

Bonnie, I will keep your husband in prayer. I would say that jesus was a MAN and He didn't find His Father's Word boring. From the Word of God comes much Wisdom and truth on how we should live and also what is expected of us so that one day we may dwell in the Heavenly Kingdom. To find this boring and to have no interest is a loss of the Greatest Gift, an Eternal Life.
Many of men have come before us and have eaten the Meat of the Word, this can only lead to one thing, Maturity of the nature of our Creator.
The WORD of YHVH stands alone of all wrtings so may His Word be a light unto your husbands heart and may your husband embrace these teachings that are meant for his redemption. Abba Father I ask this in the precious name of Your Son Yeshua. Amen!

Will pray that he see's his need of God and will be touched by His love.
Dont worry too much, dont moan at him, just pray and be the best wife you can, I believe he will come through.

I have to admit. I'm not very hungry. Guys, I'm losing faith and don't feel like my needs are being taken care of - I'm bored and lonely.

Help me?

Keep being sweet and calm, pray, pray, pray, and let God do the rest.

Hey, Mark! Do you have a church to go to? A group of men to fellowship with? Sometimes face to face is so much better. Some one on one time may be good with a spiritually mature christian man.

I quoted this part of your post cause the Holy Spirit is telling you to be patient my dear and I am so happy that you dropped what you were going to say because no one likes to be compared to some one else.

The best solution, and I am sure you know that , is to go to your prayer closet and cry out to our Lord and Saviour , Jesus Christ. He and He alone will soften your husband's heart. You cannot do that. The Holy Spirit can.

Get others to pray as well my dear and you will see the Lord work in you and your husbands life. He knows our desires even before we tell Him but also wants us to built up our faith by asking.

God Bless you my dear and I will be praying for you and your husband. The effective fervent prayer of the righteous availeth much.

Hi Sis. Your husband has had many brushes with false religion and perhaps that has left him cold. I have seen that happen before. He needs an up close encounter with the living God as this is what will get thru to his jaded heart. Being a man and thinking one doesn't have a real need for God is deception and pride. Your husband will stay in our prayers and I believe God can move any mountain,

Heh Mark- I am praying for you. If we do not feed our spirit our hunger grows cold. Ask God to help you draw near then commit yourself to seeking Him. The Presence brings the fire and the fire brings the desire.

Default Norm and Church This Morning

Hey, I already have a praise report! Norm went to church with me this morning, and guess what the Message was? Becoming "teachable."
Mat 11:29
(29)
Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.
Pastor said "Learning is not automatic. It is an attude of heart and action. You must want to grow and practice it. If you aren't open, but tough, weathered, not moldable, you cannot learn. He said some people resist the idea of idea of learning.

He told the story about a young boy and Socrates. The young boy followed him one day while Socrates was walking on the beach and yelled for him to wait up because he wanted him to teach him some wisdom. Socrates just kept on walking. The boy tried to get him to stop about three more times. Socrates headed for the water, knowing the boy would follow and not give up. He turned around and put his hands on the boy's shoulder and dunked him in the water. The boy came up and yelled, "hey, what did you do that for?" Socrates asked him, "can you breath?" He did it again, holding him down even longer. The boy came up sputtering and really upset. "Hey, what's going on?" "Can you breath, Socrates asked again. Then he pushed him down the third time, even longer. The boy came up sputtering and struggling for breath. "Well, can you breath?" asked Socrates. When the boy had caught his breath, Socrates gave him a bit of wisdom: "When you get as hungry for wisdom as you are for air, you will learn." Norm really "got" that.

Pastor said there are six things that will help you become teachable.
1) Get rid of destination disease. "If I could just . . .then life will bring me satisfaction. Like win the lottery, climb the ladder faster, see the whole world, etc.

2) Overcome your successes. Keep trying to improve, don't stop trying to be better. You will never "arrive." Tiger Woods still works on his swing so he can improve.

3) Cure excusitis. Confront it. Don't have Billy Goat faith: "but, but, but." Read the "book of change." The Bible

4) Trade in your pride.

5) Stop taking shortcuts. He told about how his kids try to do their chores the easy way, like loading the wood on a wheel barrow instead of carrying it up the hill, one armfull at a time. After they've loaded up the wheel barrow, it is much too heavy to push up the hill and the wood starts tumbling out. For anything in life of value, a price is put on it. Shortcuts won't bring anything of value.

6) Never pay twice for the same mistake. Prov. 14:1, "The wise woman builds her house, but the foolish tears it down. Like putting her children or husband down instead of building them up.

I think Norm got a lot out of it and he didn't just make shopping lists this time or fidget a lot. He really listened. He is hard of hearing, but for some reason, he did not use this as an excuse today, and he looked at me a couple of times as if I knew who pastor was talking about. I just thanked God for all of your prayers because I think the Holy Spirit is getting through. I can't wait! Maybe by the time we travel to England, he will be reading the Bible on the long trip over there. I know I will be doing that.

There is just no end to what God can do in a life! And I'm so glad of it! Prayer makes much power available!
