I read through the Bible twice. This one time I used a tactic. (or, actually, the tactic used me )

I once heard, many years ago, that the phrase "Do not be afraid" appears 365 times in the Bible, once for every day of the year. And so I thought way back then "Why not see if that's true for myself?"
I took pen and Bible and started reading from the beginning. I found the phrases and underlined them with their number next to the verse. I went through the entire Bible and didn't find 365 times, it was less than that. (People said later that it could include "Fear not" and "Do not fear", which I didn't underline and number )
At the end of it all I saw that I read the Bible all the way through.

My husband and I read the One Year Bible every night (okay, mostly every night). Having it be broken into the Old and New Testaments, as well as verses from Psalms and Proverbs helps keep me from getting bogged down with the Old Testament.

It's a really great way to read through the whole Bible, and when doing the reading with someone else, you get the chance to bounce ideas as to what the meaning is off one another.

It's great!

I think it was not difficult for me to do that, because I'm a believer from childhood. Every evening my family gathered for reading the Bible, and we didn't stop that practice for today.

As for my private reading, I've read my Russian Bible some times, but I haven't done it yet with the English one.
I'm reading it for about two years already (I got it 2 years ago), but for pitty I haven't read even a half of it yet. There are lots of new words for me there, especially names of people and places which are so different with Russian ones (the main difficulty for me is that my dictionaris don't have such words, so I can't find how to read them correctly).
But I like reading English Bible - it's like a good addition to my Russian Bible!

My Bible has a plan for reading through it in a year. You basically read certain sections of each book to get an overview. I started to read it that way but got so wrapped up in it that I am reading it straight through. I'm almost done with Exodus. (Yes I realize I have a LONG ways to go!)

I have read from Genesis through Revelation a couple of times it's just understanding it that I have trouble with.
