Default Birth defects question

Hi im working on my sermon on Psalm 139 i have a question about the following verses and am looking for some perspectives -
13For you(P) formed my inward parts;
you(Q) knitted me together in my mother’s womb.
Job 31
15Did(A) not he who made me in the womb make him?
And did not one fashion us in the womb?

These verses speak of God forming us, working on us right from the word go - that is DNA formation. So my question is if God is this involved shaping us how do we explain birth defects? does God decide to cause them for His purposes? or does He simply allow them due to the corruption of DNA because of sin and death?

Its something im pondering greatly as im talking about God creating us how He wanted us and basing self esteem and attacking the worldly idol of beauty with.

Going into the science of it, the first thing that happens on fertilization is a 'random' mixing of the mother and fathers DNA. Its at this point that the defects will happen. Is God involved in this? it appears so? if so why does He allow defects?

I am looking for opinions cause i want to ensure that i have a reasonable answer to this for the church.

Thanks.

God is not responsible for our defects, they are the results of man and his sins. Man (Adam & Eve) were given the ultimate choice and the choice they made is why our world is so full of so many things that so many people blame God for.

Blaming God is again a mere man making an excuse for what he has caused.

Sin is the source of sickness, disease and death. This plague infects all of mankind and manifests in many different forms of troubles.

Psa 51:5 Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me.

Thanks for the advice guys but can you comment on the above scriptures i have posted?. The commentarys i have read seem to all say the same thing - God is in charge in forming us in the womb, i want to have a answer or at least peace on the issue of if Gods in charge what does that mean for birth defects before i have to preach on these scriptures.

Well the way I see it God created man and gave man the gift of procreating. He gave the blueprints, the materials, the equiptment and told man ot go forth and multiply. So the Lord set it in order and mankind thru sin fouled it up. Just my opinion though.

Some of the most tender moments I've ever experienced in my life were with people who had defects. Their hearts seem more gentle. They may be different on the outside, but God makes up for it in their spirit.

Sounds like a purpose and a plan to me.

i believe sickness is from the sins we do,i did read this in the bible, and passed through generations,so your own selfishness affects your descendants.now Jesus wipes away these sins.so do yourself and your family a favour, walk a good life.straight path.

That seems more like the catagory where He works all things for our good inspite of our circumstances.

Exo 34:7 keeping lovingkindness for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin; and that will by no means clear the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children, and upon the children's children, upon the third and upon the fourth generation.

It is stated in this verse, … forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin. Three different types of sin. But it will by no means clear the guilty. Who is the guilty? The children and grandchildren, upon the third and upon the fourth generations. What happens if no one in those generations repents for the generational iniquities? I believe they keep going. From generation to generation. It’s in the blood line. Some say that when Jesus died on the cross, all the iniquities are gone. I don’t believe that. I think they still have to be repented for. If not, it won’t keep us out of heaven, but the curses will continue. Heart disease, high blood pressure, cancer… all the things that the doctors say are hereditary. I don’t call it hereditary, I call it generational. And satan doesn’t want anyone to know about it. The doctors can’t find a cure for the “hereditary” part of it all. That’s because it isn’t just a physical problem. It’s a spiritual problem as well and the doctors can’t figure it out because they don’t look to the Bible for a cure. The iniquities of our forefathers are still with us. That is why so many people have so many problems.
