Default The Death Penalty

Not the Lake of Fire penalty, but our Death penalty.

Do you think, we, as humans and sinners, have the right to punish someone to the death penalty?

I have mixed feelings on it.

Some of the techniques they use are cruel and very slow, but it also reminds me of the eternal suffering of Hell - except that Death will escape from them. I really don't know if I agree to it or not. I do, in some way, that some of these people need to die because of what they've done, but I don't want to sound like a cruel, cold-hearted person. Actually, I think a lot of people need to be on Death row, and they're not, say like, TBK?

So, what's your opinion on it?

Personally, I think that if someone murders another person, then they themselves should be given the death penalty. But I know that God would not want that.

At the one hand I think you shouldn't do it, because it's not our jobs to judge people and let them die or not.

On the other hand, I think you should do it, because it only happens to people that are a great danger to the community.

I agree with the bold part.

I was a bit surprised that they didn't put a lot of people on Death row, because many of these mass-murderers are High-Risk individuals (IMO).

I dont think we should do it - if the person is unrepentant then we are literally sending them to hell - they should be given time. I think also i have hated others, but God showed me grace, so could i then support the death penalty and not show the grace of God as He showed it to me.

God Himself says that the penalty for taking a life is to have your life also taken, that is His Word.
I know that the Law was fulfilled in Christ , but for those that havent accepted that, they are still under the Law.
However personally I find the death penalty distasteful, and here in the UK it has been abolished.
But in some cold blooded murder cases especially those involving children, I still think it should apply, although my deepest desire is that these killers repent and find Christ.

I don’t have a problem with God’s word saying the penalty for taking a life is to have your life also taken. The problem is we have ungodly people making the decisions and our system has flaws. There are cases where someone was put to death and then new evidence Is found that proves they were not guilty.
Oops… can’t take that mistake back.

If our system were perfect… I would say yes. But what about the innocent that are mistakenly put to death? Would you want to be the one to go up to someone’s mother and say, “sorry… but it looks like your son was innocent. We killed the wrong guy.” The sad part is, more than one innocent person has died because man put himself in charge of the death penalty, and man makes mistakes. One innocent life is worth too much to make a mistake.

also when the atom bomb was released in japan, would you put the areoplane personnel in this catergory by following orders.?lots of good people were killed that day.very tricky subject.we know we need defenders in this world,we are in a place where God,s will isn,t done yet by humans.this is a war zone, spiritually and humanly.we are in a bad situation.we are all flawed.

I think you gave the most sound answer, Who Am I.

I agree. Many people (I don't know who though) have been really innocent but died because people wouldn't listen to their testimony.

I do think though, that some people do deserve to die, but I know also think that here, on Earth, they should instead spend their whole life in prison, behind LOCKED bars, and God can do the rest when they die. Many mass murderers should be kept in jail, and never given probation. I know they have 100 + year sentences (I even think they have 1,000 years), which I, in my Christian view, think is best. In my not-Christian view, I'd be like many people "he/she deserves to die!", but I'd rather let God handle it.
