Default Do you believe in Luck?

Do you believe in Luck? The word "luck" is never mentioned in the scriptures, do you believe that the Sovereign God is in control of every aspect of creation, or do you simply believe that somethings happen by chance. btw i've used this a million times  .

Luck no! Faith Yes!!! Did you know that the word luck was the name of an ancient false diety. I learned this a couple years ago from one of my pastor friends. I wish I still had the research on it.

Since I was told that I have been very careful in using that word. I no longer wish people good L____ nor do I talk about being L____y. It is just something I decided was a good thing to do. I wouldn't go around wishing people good jupiter or something like that so I figured it was best for me no to say the L word anymore. :-D

I'll go for that... "luck no, faith yes."

Luck is "chance." It is a lack of control. I believe the Lord is in control, even in areas where He leaves the decisions up to us. I believe there are times and places where He intervenes due to prayer, and other areas where He does not intervene because of disobedience.

It is not a game of chance.. not to me.

good question. I never wish anyone "good luck" either. Prayer is better.

I like the "luck no, faith yes" answer.

I too believe that God is in control of all things. We do have free will, but He's always right there no matter what. He knows what's going on, and He definitely intervenes.

I have to admit, though, that I do say good luck from time to time. I've been trying to quit and say something like "God bless" instead.

I work with the children's ministry at my church on Wednesday nights, and several weeks ago, a couple of the kids was asking me if luck existed, and I told that no, it didn't, that God blesses us. They kinda looked at me like I was crazy. Hopefully one day they'll understand.

Default Look what Solomon says

King Solomon says, "The race is not to the swift or the battle to the strong, nor does food come to the wise or wealth to the brilliant or favor to the learned; but time and chance happen to them all." (Ecclesiastes 9:11)

For a Christian, its Jesus who controls his/her life.

Amen to this quote as well as the one regarding "luck no, faith yes!"

Default luck

I cringe when I hear someone say "oh your so lucky" or oh I lucked out that time" etc., cause there is absolutely no such thing as luck, everything is under His watchful eyes and NOTHING happens by accident or chance. I am a total beleiver in GODincidece, There is a little book written by Squire Rushnell,he was a big t.v. exec. and has been on many talk shows etc. The name of the book is called..WHEN GOD WINKS..how the power of coincidence guides your life. It's a real quick read and just might have you cringing too, when you hear someone say, "good luck". I have to say also that when I ran upstairs to my room to get the book,so I could get the info,..out of the 200 or so books i have stacked in my closet waiting for a bookshelf, and in no particular order, ...that this book.. was sitting right at the top of one of the stacks :!: and I read this book back in 2004, although I just recently moved to a new place back in october, those stacks have been there since then. Luck, chance, fate :-k Noooooo....It was a GODincidence :-D in HIS love ...Holly

I agree that luck is actually "chance" and the Lord is really in control. When I wish "good luck" I only say it because it's a custom or tradition, not because I really believe in luck.
