Mom I encourage you to read the whole thread before deciding. If you already have then I apologize but I feel modern society is confused on the true meaning of many of these things.
Much love and respect in Christ, your son Larry.

Yes , Larry ,

I do respect what you have said and I have read all and it is a very difficult topic as myself and friend were just talking about it last night. Those were just thoughts that I have and maybe it was not what was expected .But I am not right all the time.

Maybe all the snow and the accident have clouded my brain..... LOL

Not many people can say that they have been that close to God. We should all strive to have that type of closeness. Think of Moses. He was not a "Christian" either, but look at the closeness that he and God had. "Christianity" or the act of being a "Christian" is about following Christ and his teachings. Just "being a Christian" is not what gives you a relationship with God. It only opens the doors. Like Mary and Martha..... Jesus was coming to visit them and Martha was in the kitchen cooking, while Mary was at Jesus feet listening. Both were in the presence of God, yet only one was developing that relationship with him.
I must agree with you, Bookworm.

"Christian" separates our belief system from other belief systems. All Christians believe that Jesus Christ is God, and that He came to the earth to save us from sin. However, not all Christians agree on how to have a relationship with Him. If they did, they would all worship Him in the exact same way.

We can't guess at another person's level of holiness. We can know what another person professes to believe, though.

Religion based on relationship. It would not work without relationship. I think people must see our living relationship to God to become christians. But when one feels far from God it is good that one knows (thanks to religion) that God is near even when one does not feel it... (sorry for bad grammar and spelling, I am not English... but I love God :-) )

Every religion is based off of some sort of relationship, be it between man and the universe (as in Daoism), between Master and servant (Islam) or Buddhism (relationship with self by way of the universe). You may say that these are as relationships between demons and demoniacs, but it is still a relationship.

Lucky you- you came up with the slogan before anyone else did. That doesn't make it any more true of your religion than it is of theirs.

It still is. We have a relationship of a son or a daughter of hte Most High- our religion is the action that flows out of this realtioship and indwelling.

This is true for some of us, but some people only ever find a relationship with Christ through following the religion. We are all different.

I still say, "Religion."
