I have never seen her use anything but her Bibles and the huge Strong's Exhaustive Concordance her parents gave her for her high school graduation gift. She has her worn-out KJV Bible she has had since she was knee-hi to a grasshopper and the Women's Devotional Bible (NIV) we gave her a few years ago. Her heart and her mind are filled with God and she follows Him, and she is one of those folks who don't need aids and all that.
Perhaps it's a gift, perhaps some people need more than the Bible, we are all different. I would like to ask, what exactly is not up to your expectations? Are you a Bible scholar, as educated as she is? This is quite puzzling to me.
But we are all different, and I keep coming back to that.
Peace and blessings,
Joyce
Some simply want to go deeper in their undestanding and that is ok. Some tools are invalueable to learning more. For example a Strong concordance can give many meanings for the same word, which one fits where? This type of translation has gone into the interpetations used by a popular cult. But take a Vines Expository Dictionary which is keyed to Strongs Exhaustive Concordance and you will be given an exact use for each of those defintions and the exact verses that it applies to. As far as other works I am not nearly do bold as to say I cannot receive and learn from the wisdom given to us in 20 centuries of Christendom.
I said all that to say this- some stick with the basics and that is fine as they are rich and full enough to study for a lifetime. Some are more studious by nature and like to dig in a little more and that is fine. As long as the Holy Spirit is in the midst of you studies you will prosper. Niether can really be called superior to the other.

Yes, I understand that. But the OP said our explanations were not up to the grade he/she was looking for, and that's why I asked my questions. I agree with you 1000%, I just want to see where our answers to her/him fell short.
Peace and blessings,
Joyce

Joyce, listen. Many people need more than a feeling. The answers fell short because no one used the resources the OP uses or suggested using. You mean well, but I saw this in college - there are those who simply must rely on other sources and that is ok. It doesn't mean they don't feel from their heart.
But I will agree with you that this person's questions were answered honestly but I feel these answers were rebuffed because of the lack of all this outside proof he/she wants. This is why he/she is wondering if he/she belongs here.

I'll answer that question. If you feel the love here, the help, the power of God here, yes you certainly do belong here. If you feel nothing then I can't say anything about that, you are your own judge. I am hoping you feel our love, and I am hoping you will stay and feel like you do belong. Because you DO!
God bless,
Star

Can We Understand the Bible?

A. God's Wisdom and Power Demand that the Bible Be Understandable.

God revealed His word through inspired men for the purpose of making known His will to men.

1 Timothy 2:4 - God desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. God does not want some to understand, but others are incapable. He wants all to know the truth.
Can the Average Person Understand Bible Teaching and Be Saved?

I"ve been to several forums, and so I think I can say that each one has a different "flavor" , if you will. Some more edifying than others, some have more "fluff", each one is different. It is good to find one that suits your "tastes".
Dianalmoth, you are certainly welcome here. This is a good forum in that there is alot of grace, love and fellowship. If you are looking for a more scholarly site, I could pm you a few that might suit you better.
God bless you.

Default He/she… him/her

He/she… him/her

If you would take the time to check out her profile, you would see that she… is a her, not a him.
It almost seems like some are talking “about” her now instead of talking “to” her.

Blessings to all

The Holy Spirit and the God given ability to discern are more credible than 5 commentaries and a Pope combined.

Hi Joyce like Starshine said some people need more than a feeling... When Christ first saved me I wanted to know many things... SO I got those books and studied, and studied for years until I was sure that the Word was not a collection of fairy tales, and myths... I wanted to know if Jesus was who He said He was, and what was the difference between Him and the other religious leaders or founders...

I'm glad I did this when I was young... it would be a mountainous task now... But back then it was intrigueing, and fun...
