My husband and I are planning a trip to Europe in May. We will be flying into London and I would like some ideas of where to go there. We do plan to take a ride thru the Chunnel into Paris, but we have been told by some that it is not that special for a 2-hr. ride and that it is expensive. What do you think? I would love to visit some famous gardens and tea rooms. Any suggestions?
We will be staying on military bases at only $25/night because Norm is retired Navy. But, I wanted to experience a hostel or something more quaint for a night or two. Norm and I are different in our tastes. I would like to travel Europe on a bike and He likes touristy places. The only thing we agree on is the castles. Anyone have any suggestions to any of these questions. And, Oh yes! I would like to meet all of you while there - in person. So, figure out where that could be!! ![]()

The list is soooo long I don't know where to begin but as a starter seeing you both like castles why not visit Arundel Castle.
Arundel Castle : The Castle Not too far from London but in a beautiful quaint old English town and a great place to spend the day.

Obviously London would be a must you could ride the London eye,
Explore the London Eye You could visit the Tower of London Historic Royal Palaces > Home > Tower of London Wales is beautiful a couple of hundred miles from London, Scotland too but a bit further. There is loads of historical stuff, also places like Madame Tussauds the waxworks. Paris is quite expensive but worse than that it is full of eastern european beggars, when we visited it made the trip a nightmare, it was almost like Victorian England with women with small children on their backs begging money or virtually forcing you to sit while they draw you for money! Even if I were mega rich we couldnt have given to all of them. The building were beautiful though, loved the eiffel tower, didnt have the courage to go to the top! |

I've heard from a freind who went there, That Ireland is a Very beautiful place. If you like the country, Somerset especially is a good place, I have relative up there and its a nice place. Also Wales, Cornwall and Devon are nice places. Or come visit my Area, Bournemouth, Lots of beaches around here, lots of town centers, in Bournemouth we have Oceanarium, Or go to Weymouth for the Sea Life Center, or The Tank Museum in Bovington, I went there as a Child and its great if you like that sort of thing, Or theres Marwell Zoo in Hampshire, Monkey World in Wareham, so much more to see, I know that the London aquarium is supposed to be good though, And London Zoo. And London on new years celebration ![]() So what kind of things are you looking for ?
