Denominations are just a name pinned onto different church groups and although I do go to a certain denomination, I still want to make sure that , that church preaches the whole Word of God and doesn't extract certain parts out of the Bible and emphasize them. Be very careful.... look around , listen and ask God to lead you to the right church. Ask God for discernment, and test the spirits .Don't make any hasty decisions but follow God's direction. I'm looking for a church also and was invited by someone at work to go with her to a Bible Study just starting at her church. I found out that attending a Bible Study instead of a formal Sunday Service is a very good way to find out what they believe and also what the members get from their pastor's preaching/teaching. You can also ask questions sometimes in these smaller settings and make friends.

Also, if a church has a Wed. evening service, usually the most faithful are in attendance and it is not as formal. Good luck. Bonnie

Why would one denomination be preferable over another. What, to you, is the TRUE teachings of Jesus regarding the matter?

Look for this:
The Word of God preached
The Spirit of God moving

If you find those two you will have found a vibrant chruch with much love and strong outreach programs as this is the heart of Christ.

I cannot say that one denonimation is preferable over another and if you are looking to a denomination .... then the motives are wrong.

We look for as Larry has said so simply That my friends is the key.. It is our relationship that we have with the Lord Jesus Christ that is important and we should not be looking for a "tickle my fancy and ears church " but where the Holy Spirit is evident and the Pastor is feeding the sheep with the full Word of God and giving the sheep meat and not milk.

When the Spirit of God is moving, the people will come and bring their sacrifices of praise to the Lord.... not what they can get out of the service but what we can give to our Lord and Saviour who gave all for us.

Amen B2LY..... That is exactly what God wants us to worship in spirit and in truth and like I said and you said .... If we are looking for perfection ... then you might as well stay home. He does want your heart and He wants you to worship with your heart . That is why it is important like I said that we bring our sacrifice of praise to Him. He covets our worship and our praise. We are not in church to gawk around and see who is worshipping and who is not or what Mrs. so and so is wearing . We are there to worship God with our whole heart. He wants our heart.
