Default near death experiences

there is tons of people claiming they had a experience of either pure bliss or a hell type of experience. do you think these are hallunations or are these people really seeing a glimpse of heaven and hell

It really depends.

Sometimes, it's just either hallucinations/dreams, sometimes it MAY be real. It depends, really, I have never had any experiences that I can consider "near death".

I agree with NearerToGod.

My aunt Becky works in a nursing home...She has talked with many of the patients, and prayed with them. Many of the elderly patients in her care have died and come back.

Maybe they were only clinically dead for a few minutes, but dead nontheless. There seems to be no rhyme or reason why some will have a hellish experience, and others would seem to see heaven...

Ones that she had figured were saved had the same type of visions/experiences as people who definately were not the Godly type, and viceversa...

No good explaination for this.

I agree with you as well, Kitsap.

I've had hallucinations before - I thought someone was speaking to me. It can happen to a normal person.

I would have to say hallucinations can mainly occur in people who are taking medications with many side effects. That's why I don't recommend medication - there are to many risks with it other than what the doctors/pharmasicts label it.

My grandmother said that she was taking a medication after she had surgery, and she thought she saw a snake crawling around on her floor and out of her room. She called my aunt and my aunt said she didn't see a snake anywhere. THAT was a hallucination - I didn't ask what type of medication she was taking.

So, the same can go with Near Death Experiences - it can be a hallucination OR it can be real. I have to say it's 50/50; I haven't done my NDE studing so I can't say for sure, as I don't like to get into topics with nothing to back myself off of. :P

I've read numerous accounts of near death or out of the body experiences and the only common denominator is that so many have claimed to be in a kind of tunnel. It is interesting to note that those who have ridden the centrifuge used to acclimate pilots to high G forces claim the same thing. At high G's the brain is deprived of oxygen, which produces the "tunnel Effect."

People who experience this in their near death experiences are often in the same condition of oxygen depletion. Just what is it that keeps the spirit of man entrapped in the body? What technical condition releases it? - hard to say.

I had a near death experience in 1985 when my cab driver ran a stop sign. I was rammed into by a huge truck and we rolled into a ditch. I just remember reaching out to him as he was exiting the cab and saying, "please don't leave me!" He looked scared and backed away from me. I had blood all over me and glass sticking out of my head. I guess that would scare someone.

Anyway, I passed out and I remember a tunnel alright, but as I was passing through it, I was watching my whole life on a screen. And, up to that point, my life was not pretty. So, the ET's working on me said I was out for about 40 min. and they looked glad to see me wake up. It took another 45 min. for my vitals to get back to normal so they could transport me.

I'm glad God spared my life so I could get to know Him.
All that happened, by the way, was that I had a broken collar bone and my husband and kids had to pick glass out of me for the next two weeks. I agree that it is lack of oxygen and it does a trick on your brain. I've heard people who take drugs say they've experienced the same thing.

I had a NDE once when I was in a car accident (head-on collision). I was 13 at the time, but I can recall it as if it were yesterday. I never had the tunnel or the light at the end of the tunnel. I never had any flashes of my life. My experience was unlike anyone's that I have ever heard before. I would share it, but it really isn't all that interesting.

Someone begged me to share, so I will share.

We were hit head on by another car making a left turn in front of us. I was in the front passenger seat. Later, the lady said that she heard a voice tell her to "turn now" so that is why she turned at that moment and hit us. When we were hit, I immediately blacked out. It was instantaneous. My mom heard me yell out "my leg" and she turned to the right, which combined with the impact of the hit caused her to have permanent scar damage in her neck and shoulders. I do not recall ever yelling anything, because I was already "out". I awoke in a room. There were people in the room, but I couldn't see them. I could only make out shadows. But I wasn't scared. I remember feeling at peace. I guess it would be like having no feelings-- not scared, not confused, not happy....nothing. The shadows were whispering. Their whispers were hurried and quite anxious sounding, but I couldn't make out what they were saying. I was just standing there listening to them. Like waiting while people discuss something important. Then I heard my mom from far off saying "in the name of Jesus". And I woke up in the car. The first thing I said was " I think I bit my tongue." Which I had. An entire inch of it had been clamped shut in my jaw, which had locked shut. I had also stopped breathing. The doctors estimated based upon the circumstances surrounding my blacking out that I was out for around 5 minutes or more. They ran CT scans and sleep deprived EEG's, but all my brain tests came back normal. (Yes, I AM normal. ) There was no explanation for why any of it happened at all. I had no injury at all other than where I bit my tongue.

That was an amazing story! I sometimes hear a voice suggesting I swerve in front of a semi. It hasn't happened in a while, but it happened a lot when I was a Mormon and I'm convinced now that it was a demon. Maybe Angel Moroni! No, it's not even funny, but it was compelling. I'm glad you are OK. Thanx for sharing.
