Default ccc

Hello,

I have a rather touchy question. I'm fairly convinced in my own mind what the biblical stand should be, but I want to hear views from other Christians. Well, here goes.

Is it right to tithe to a church where some of the money goes to fund the CCC (http://www.ccc-cce.ca/english/home/index.htm), which includes Catholics in its membership? I'm just looking for "yes" or "no" type answers with maybe a few short explanations, and I really don't want to start any fights.

Well what exactly is it that disturbs you about this?

Is it Catholics in general, or something else the CCC is doing?

You can be honest, I am a former Catholic and quite familiar with the denomination.

I am in agreement with and echo the same questions Macrohard poses. Just what is it that is objectionable? Just curious.

I have respect for the initial motives of the CCC which has been around for quite a while, but they have crossed a line with me when they allowed the Catholic religion to join up with them recently and even hold positions of authority within.

Many Christians in the past have given up their lives to them in order to stay separate from their corruption, and now as though nothing had ever happened, people are joining right back up with them. To be fair, I do believe there are some unlearned Christians within Catholicism.

I see they include Unitarians as well. That worries me more than the Catholics. As for the Catholics, since I haven't heard any recent stories about inquisitions and the like, their participation doesn't concern me. However, if you have objections to the inclusion of Catholics, perhaps you can talk to your church leadership about your concerns and see if your tithe can be applied to budget needs that exclude CCC.

No.

If you have to think before giving, don't. The Lord enjoys a cheerful giver. If we have to contemplate on whether or not we should give, how much, etc...then we're not giving very cheerfully.

Instead, find some place else to give your offerings to Him, and give it in secret, with no announcements.

Some good points! Actually we have talked to the Pastor about this and he agreed entirely. In fact he wrote a letter to the head of the CCC who replied understanding the concerns. The Pastor has since left. We do in fact at the moment cheerfully give our tithes directly to the Pastor or speaker or to other separate expenses.

Also, it is not so much what the Catholics did to Christians as it is the commands to be separate and come out from among them (which includes false religion).

I'm really not trying to justify my views on this, but trying to get a feel for what other Christians think on this issue, and perhaps many people have not even heard about this yet.

Frank...I'd say that it's your money. You want to give it to God, and you want to be cheerful about it. So you don't owe any man justification, because it's completely between you and the Lord.

I'd say that your right Whirlwind, especially if we know exactly what or who we are giving our money to. What I mean is, we also need to be wise and good stewards with the money God has entrusted to us. I know you realize this as well
