Good point, Violet.
Olive Oil, in it's purest form ( and moderately expensive ) is not only a great cooking oil, but it can be used as a skin application, rather than commercial lotions, and does a better job in most cases. It is also 'The Oil of our People' in so much as it is the Anointing Oil of Christianity. Christ's name comes from the Greek language word root, "christos", which means "the anointed one" as well as from the Hebrew language word root, "messiah", which also means "the anointed one". We remember from Luke 7:36-50 how Christ was 'anointed' by an unnamed woman, not with olive oil in this case, but with tears and an ointment. The parable in Luke 7 is a very important lesson concerning forgiveness. Anointing of the ill is a Christian ceremony that any Christian can do for another Christian. It is not the Oil itself that does the anointing; but rather it is our dedication and obedience to Christ that IS the anointing. The oil is symbolic of the Blood of the Lamb as described in Exodus 12 (KJV) and many other places in both the Old and New Testaments. |

Thanks for the advice, Violet. However, I don't cook with oil at all. During the rare times I fry I spray my pans with Pam, but mostly I use my electric toaster oven to cook all my meat naturally with no oil or butter, or even the Pam.
Someone said recently, "You've become a label reader." Yes, I have. I read the label for how much fat and sodium it has. I have high blood pressure and am on pills for that. Mostly I eat chicken and fish, salad with no meat, baked potatoes with fat-free sour cream, and I drink fat-free milk, water and orange juice. However, I do occasionally satisfy my craving for something fattening. I weigh 183 lbs, and my waist is 37 inches--a little bigger than I want it to be, but I'm working on getting it smaller. Unfortunately, with age my body has slowed down and doesn't get rid of the fat as easily as when I was capable of being more active. Arthritis and other ailments make being active more difficult, but one thing I do enjoy is nearly daily swimming. |

But my triglycerides (whatever they are) went to over 700, and I was told they should be no higher than 150. I think it has something to do with fat in the blood. I can't eat much lower in fat than I do now. I'm on medication for that and for high blood pressure. The blood pressure pills are working very well. My blood pressure was down to 108/68 this week at the doctor's. He was happy, and so was I!

Bottom left at each post there is a place to give someone Rep Power---like a compliment. How is your thyroid? Have you ever had that checked out? If not, trust me, you should! |

I am a vegan. I eat nothing that comes from animals. I think that's about as natural as it gets. I'm not political about my veganism...everyone must make their own choices in live. However, I will not contribute to the suffering of another living creature. Ever.

I've never thought about my thyroid, and my doctor's never mentioned it. I am getting a chest x-ray this coming Monday at my request. I have a chronic cough that my doctor thinks is just caused by my allergies, but I don't have complete faith in doctors since they sometimes misdiagnose. I was exposed to TB in the early 1980's, although it wasn't until after the year 2000 that I developed this cough. I personally knew a woman whom God cured of TB. When doctors give up, that's when God takes over--or not. |

Or leads you to the answer, Jon Marc. I have been sick for about 3 years and I was getting no answers. Well, not completely true....how about the WRONG answers. Not too long ago I prayed and asked God to help me with my health. Immediately I started researching and soon figured out what was wrong with me. I insisted on tests and my Dr. gave in and guess what? I was right. I am still going through tests before I am medicated, by a specialist I have to see now, and though the disease is not curable, it is controllable. God, through my prayers, led me to the answers. I feel very blessed for that! |
