Yeah, smoking is against God. Its a drug, you're taking a drug to alter your mind. Just because it is legal, doesn't mean its not a drug, and doesn't mean its ok. Although I can understand how people are addicted, and dont' want to quit so they feel the need to justify their sin, but at the end of the day, you know its a sin.
Although its easy for me to say, I don't smoke. |

Caffeine is a drug. Coffee, sodas...how many of us are addicted to those drugs? So is insulin, and some people can't survive without insulin.
But yeah, I see what you're saying. I just thought of a bumper sticker I saw once: "Thank you for holding your breath while I smoke." ![]() |

![]() It saddens me...I hear a lot of justification for sin on this thread. Once you know it's sin you should not defend it...you should instead try to stop it...seeking help as needed.

Nicotine ingested is a parasite killer. Inhaled it's a lung killer. God made nicotine and He has His reasons. Since nicotine is an excellent insecticide, my guess is that His purpose was to help control the insect population. Satan has used it to control the human population. IMO.

i would like to see the chemical list that fertilizes your food,or the smoke exhaust from your cars,or the chemicals to make you smell good.or the chemicals for peoples war faces.also i would like to know where it says smoking is a sin ,i must read a diffrent bible.is eating to many chips a sin,or being selfish to the healh athority?is eating chocolate a sin and bothering hospitals?is walking backwards a sin?what is a sin,who gives us a list of sins?are sins man made .does God really want to know if we eat too many custard creams in a day?my advice would be listen to Jesus not the sin brigade.

Can anyone tell me how it makes sense to knowingly harm yourself and others around you? It doesn't sound to good to me and in fact is a bondage. Does God impose bondage on us or the other guy?
I do drink coffee but it won't kill me and I kick off it a few times a year. Comparing nicotine whcih is a self imposed addiction to medically needed insulin is a little out there. ![]() |

Gimme a break, okay!? I need one, heh.
![]() I have decided that I'm going to stop smoking when I'm done. Alcohol was killing me at one time...I stopped when I was finished. Just...let me gain my breath here before I start on the next one, aright? Hee hee hee ![]() I was just saying...those things are drugs, too. You can't just say stop because it's a drug. A lot of people who are dependent on drugs don't even realize that they are dependent on any kind of drug. Us smokers, on the other hand, get it shoved down our lungs practically ever day, heh. No pun. We're aware that it's a drug and most of us have - at one time - considered stopping. That, in itself, should be a bravo - compared to a meth addict out there somewhere who has no intention of stopping any time in the foreseeable future. If you smoke, worry. If you don't, don't. Oh, this world would be a much finer place if we all just minded our own business, wouldn't it? Hee hee hee! ![]() I need a cigarette. ![]() |

Yes smoking is unhealthy, and i would never encourage someone to start, but its only one of many ways we're destroying our bodies. Look at the continually increasing obesity rate. Especially child obesity. Look at all our overprocessed foods. Look at all the chemical drugs being thrown at us. All the pollutants pumped into our atmosphere. The list goes on. Yes, smoking can cause cancer, but id be curious to see what the actual percentage is for how many smokers do get cancer. But even then, how many of those people wouldve gotten cancer whether theyd smoked or not.

Yes, smoking is bad. If you've never tried it before, don't ever.
I started because all of my friends were trying it. It was cool, back then. And I wanted to blend in. It was hard to keep it down back then, I'd want to cough and "spit up". It made me dizzy and I felt panicky. Today? A cigarette is the first thing I worry about. I count the hours at work. I look forward to my next cigarette with great relish. I depend on it to take away some of my stress, and I have dirty ashtrays all around the house. It's filthy. When I hand in a report at work, that I might have worked on at home, the person receiving it always asks..."Do you smoke? I can smell it on the paper." So yes, one day I will attempt to quit again. But my advice is...don't start. It might be playful at the beginning, but it gets serious very fast. It controls you. Not the other way around. God bless. |
