Faithwoman! God is soo amazing! Isnt He? If we could just let go, and let God take care of everything, He can do things so much better for us!! I have to remind myself, sometimes, that God doesnt need my help OR my advice! He can handle it all on His own, and in much more creative ways than I could ever come up with! ha!
A lady at my church had a similar experience buying a car. They went to find one for their teenage children to learn to drive in and were blessed with a GREAT deal on a car she wanted for herself! It was definitely a God thing!
Hope you get yourself moved in and settled soon!

Default the sound of life

But one of the things I DID catch was a chaplain from the State convention made the comment that during the memorial service for the firefighters that have died in the past year, a young boy was clapping. He said that it was wonderful to see not only firefighters at the convention, but families as well. That we thought of bringing our families into our world and showing them a little bit of what we're about. As for the boy clapping, dont stop him. Those firefighters deserved an ovation for their service for their community. And he told the mothers to not be embarrassed about their young children crying or making noises. It was the sound of life. The next generation to come up and be firefighters, or others to serve their communities. He said that our future is in the children.
He was so right!
Children are our gift sent to us from our Father. They are so precious!
Made me feel better about my grandson's little temper tantrum he had because he couldnt get a little girl's ball! (he loves balls!)
Oh FLUFFY! I'm so glad that you had a good time... and that your grandson came along too! And that chaplain was so right... and "we" all need to echo that in our lives... while there is a time and place for children (and adults!) to be quiet there is also such a thing as including children in LIFE WITH US so they have an opportunity to SEE EXAMPLES of adults and how to behave and what to aspire to, etc. I believe there is a whole generation (maybe more!) of adults who are still looking for that example... myself included! And here I am a grandparent with grandchildren looking to ME for that example that I, myself, am looking for! May we all take our 'influence' seriously and purpose to glorify God in the process!

BLESSINGS!!!

So true, smellycat. However, those children then grow up to become so-called adults and so can go the perpetual "It's not my fault, its how I was raised" argument... until each one takes responsibility for their own actions and recognizes the impact of their own influence, don't you agree?

I thank God for a teaching I received a while back that had a little story in it. It was that story that the Lord used to teach me that I am solely responsible for my example and that I can choose to be for someone else what I felt I didn't get from my own parents, leaders, etc. Thank God that my daughter also received this teaching and isn't holding my failures and faults against me or using them to excuse her own! God's grace is sufficient - especially when we keep pride and the pity-pot at bay! (My temptations especially!)

[ However, I still haven't learned to cook!]

Blessings,
BB

Oh, Beenblessed! I am so blessed to have you back! I missed you, so much!

Yes, children are a treasure. And they grow up to be adults and have treasures of their own. What an awesome responsibility we have. And they will, as well. It just perpetuates on an on.
I heard one time that when a child is 2 years old, his personality is fully formed. He is what he is going to be. That's why the early years are so critical that we teach love.

Hey, Smellycat! Welcome to the Coffee House!! What do you like to drink? I am sure we've got it here! I'm about to have a cup of coffee with Amaretto creamer, yum!

Did I hear/see Amaretto creamer?! I'll have a cup, if you please?!

Actually, I just popped on to say "Hi ~ Good Morning!" and let you know that I'm blessed to be able to 'pop in' because I've missed you too!

Gotta run for now... have a wonderful day all ya'll! (How obvious is it that I'm a "Southern" poser/wannabe?! LOL)

Hi Beenlessed - feels like AGES! It's lovely when you're able to 'pop in'!

Parents and kids - yes, in our society today all that they know is what WE did!! And it's true that by the time they're 5yrs old all is set for the rest of their life. What an awesome/scary responsibility we have!

Back in my day we still had aunties and uncles around to learn from. Today it's just Mum and Dad. We had no TV to ruin our young minds. We were taught manners like eat at the table not talk. I listened to my parents' adult conversation and learnt SO MUCH from that. Today the family is all in front of the stupid box instead! I also listened when they talked to friends, work-mates, etc. Back then people actually COMMUNICATED, interacted, and shared.

When I was 20 I had to buy a book to find about about marital sex. Kids today know everything (FAR too much) before they even go to school. Bad, bad TV!!

I'm considering returning to the 1950's...

How ya doin'!!! Good to 'see' you both (you and your lady)!

You know, I was about to say 'the good ole days' in reference to all that you share here about your 'personal history' and then it occured to me that each generation has said practically the same thing in reference to their current 'times' ~ haven't they?

What never seems to change is the 'alarm' the older generation has when they compare their current society to what they understand scripture to speak about in reference to 'the end times'.

Then again, Paul mentions something about learning to be content...

I'm working on it!

Today I appear to be succeeding! PRAISE THE LORD!

Blessings to you all ~ in Jesus' name!

There are so MANY good words like that in Scripture, hey! To be content How wonderful - I just love that you were succeeding, hon!

Of course you're right about the old days seeming to be better and the whole world certainly IS going to pot!! Grass on the other side of the fence being greener and all that sort of thing... Yet the Lord does make me content with my lot. And despite our deteriorating health, keeps me strong in hope. Me failing Him is what's most likely to give me angst really. If only I could be perfect for Him... *realises he needs to wait for heaven...*

Hey, ya'll! Sorry to have been MIA for a bit, we went south to look at a fire truck we wanted to buy for the dept and took the grandson to see his momma. She kept him and wouldnt let us take him back! hee! She missed him, terribly. Now, we miss him, too!

Anyway, I wanted to tell you about what happened earlier this week:

Temptation tried to sneak in, but, by the grace of God, I recognized it as soon as it raised its ugly head. And I determined right there, to cast those thoughts down and not pursue that line of thinking. Praised God instead that He had delivered me from what I was being tempted in and that I am able to resist. And it left! ha!
Used to, that was a horrific battle, but this time it was easier! Hallelujah!!
