Hey, Who! That was hilarious!! I feel like that, sometimes! ha!

Hey, Granny! I guess I call myself Fluffy the same way people call a six foot, 300 pound man, Tiny. I guess its my way of asserting my femininity. I like make up, and jewelry, and wear dresses once in a while. I have more in my closet than fire dept shirts! hee!
Your appreciation is much appreciated, though! I joined the dept as a last ditch effort to save my marriage. I instinctively knew that if I made my hubby choose between me and the dept, I'd have been looking for an apartment in town! ha! (He has since come down off of that, by the way.) After I went to my first fire, I was hooked. Now, I could see what he loved about it, so much. It was funny, the only boots they had at the time were 5 sizes too big. I tripped over my own feet several times, in the dark, fighting a grass fire. But I had the time of my life! It was great!
There used to be more women than men in our dept, but they have since moved on. Currently, I am the only active woman firefighter.
Hee! One of our firefighters was asking his wife about joining. She said, "But there arent any other women!" He told her I was there, and she said "She's not a woman! She's a machine! She puts on that gear and goes into a burning house without even thinking about it!" Well, that's not quite accurate. I think about it ALOT! I have overcome claustrophobia and have to talk myself down every time! Not afraid of dying, I know what's on the other side. But I sure dont like pain, or having trouble breathing. So, yeah, I think about it!!
Thank you, for your prayer. Could I ask you to extend that prayer to your local emergency services? I am sure they could use it! We arent the only dept. being wrung thru the wringer right now, I'm sure!
And if you see a firefighter from your area, or a paramedic, or a law enforcement officer, give them a thank you, too. Its amazing how much that makes a person stand taller, and try harder.

Thank you!

I am so thankful for all in the protection/EMS field. I know (not first hand, of course) the trials they face and the services they perform. We have been on the receiving end of EMS several times. Several times my husband and I have had heart attack scares so EMS had to be called. What a blessing. Last September, I tripped over the crack in the sidewalk, hit my head on the sidewalk and couldn't get up. EMS was called, they braced my neck, got me on a board and stretcher and to the ER. I had a concussion and had the affects of it for several months. I am on blood thinner so it compounded the bruising. I am so thankful for the EMS. They perform a wonderful service.

After I was back up and about, I went by the local grocery bakery and bought them a carrot cake and took it by to thank them. DH also made a donation to them. That doesn't begin to express our appreciation. BTW, I call our little town, Tiny Town USA and the EMS was just about 1 1/2 blocks away from where I fell.

Thanks again, Dusty, for you cheerful spirit and service to your community.

Fluffy, I had no idea that you were a firefighter!!
(You're right, with a name like yours, that's the last occupation I would have guessed for you, lol!)

Thank you so much for your service to your community! You will be in my prayers this upcoming fire season.

Hey, ya'll! Thank you, for the support and encouragement! We've had a couple of days off,(no fires) but I am helping my husband move his office to a new building (he has ALOT of stuff!) He is the 9-1-1 director for this area, on top of being the chief of the volunteer fire dept! We just have a little bit more to do today, mostly finishing up the cleaning of the old office. He has a mountainous job coming up of sorting out and finding places for everything at his new office! eep!
We are back into high fire danger again, today.

Hey. Jesuslildoe! I think Faithwoman has been spending most of her time in the Inner Room. Havent been there, yet. Going there now!
Ya'll have a blessed day!

Fluffy, because I thought it was so important I'm posting this in The Inner Room as well as here. Hope that's okay.

I just loved what you said at the end of explaining about yourself and firefighting - the 'thankyou' thing:

"And if you see a firefighter from your area, or a paramedic, or a law enforcement officer, give them a thank you, too. Its amazing how much that makes a person stand taller, and try harder."

It's many years ago that I realised that this world is NEGATIVE, not positive. That people are very quick to gripe, grizzle and complain. So I decided to go on a 'campaign' to do the opposite. I mean how hard is it to say a kind word. Like, "Thankyou!" Will our teeth all fall out if we open our mouth to say that??

I was amazed at the reactions I got. The checkout girl was astonished when I commented on her efficiency, the guy at the petrol pump amazed when I thanked him for his proficient service. And so started a life long quest to spread some cheer into a rather sad and dismal world.

ANYONE you compliment, say 'thankyou' to, or something else that's positive, helps change the world - and certainly that person's world!!

Actually, schools sometimes (at least Christian schools) have promotions where they encourage students to help others (and be recognized for it - "caught being kind, caught being thankful, caught being helpful"). Also, I have found as I walk the halls in school, that if I have a smile planted on my face and am quick with an "wave" of the hand, that the students respond in like manner.

Thanks and smiles are so rare these days, and it is wonderful when you see them or experience them. BTW, it is good for your health, too.

Again, thank you Fluffy and all your work associates for all the good you and others around the world do to make our lives safer.

Hey, ya'll. Just a quick note again. I am down to the last drop of energy. We have had more fires the last couple of days. One an all nighter. So we are at the last ebb. There is a lot of humidity in the air today, so I hope we dont have any for a while.
Thank you, guys, so much, for the love and support that I have found here. It helps, so much, ya'll will never know.

Bondman, I agree with you about thanking people. Sometimes, they take a second look at you, like you've done something strange. It is so rare to get appreciation these days.
But volunteers dont get paid for what they do. Whatever a volunteer does, whether its firefighting, working in a hospital, cleaning up a community, its all done from a sense of service. And alot of times, getting a "thank you" or "good job" makes it all seem worth it. We'd do it anyway, without it, but it sure helps.

So, THANK YOU, ALL!!!
