Bondman, you said this was from the commentary on Matt. 24:13

I know that word "probation." It is a Mormon word for where someone like me, an apostate, goes after he dies until a Mormon missionary comes and teaches him.

Of course I don't believe that anymore, but what does it really mean in the commentary? And, is the word, probation, used in the Bible at all, really? I hate it when phrases like this come up. But, they don't sway me like they used to. I know I am not an apostate. I'm an apostle, right?

Oops, sorry I let that one through without explanation. No, not a Morman word, not with that meaning.

Matthew Henry's mammoth work is from some hundreds of years ago, and he does use some old English words. 'Probation' is one such word and means "to test, to prove". You can see some correlation to 'being on probation' of today, i.e., to test out/prove that you're gonna go straight from here. So M.H. was saying, "They endure to the end of their present state of proving and testing [via life's hardships: proving and testing within themselves, as well as by God]."

I'll add the meaning in to his quote so no one is confused.

Guess I may as well answer that one while I'm here. Yes it is a Bible verse. 'Kefa' is Hebrew (Jewish) for 'Peter' - so 1 Peter 2:9.

I woke up this morning feeling refreshed and rested, went to my "prayer closet" and met with God in a wonderfully refreshing way (He is sooooo good!) and I am energized and ready! Already made some strawberry muffins,

and ready to face the day!

We are forecasted for high fire danger again today, tomorrow and later on next week, but I am up!

Hey, Sweetsurrender! I noticed that "Kefa" thing, too. But I recognized the verse as being in Peter, so I figured it was Hebrew or Aramaic or something like that. Thank you,
