I had something happen in class this week that upset me. I'm an army wife for those that don't know and my husband is currently in Iraq. I am also a history major and I have one professor that I have taken before and I have this semester. Somehow we got to talking about the current war and terrorist and he told us what had happened in another class. In that class terrorism came up and this professor said that he had never seen a terrorist and in his class he had a soldier who had just come back from war and had seen terrorist "all the time" this professor told him that he must have spent a lot of time looking in the mirror. I was floored when he told this story on Tuesday. I sat there clenching my jaw, fighting back tears, and holding on to my husband's dog tags. I respect the right to say and think what you want in this country (the USA) that is why my husband stands for but how can someone say something like that to a soldier and repeat it to other classes where he knows he will have military and military families. After the class I confirmed with a friend that I had heard correctly and then I left. I called my dad and we chatted and he talked me down because I was very angry. I vented in an online blog of mine and a friend who was able to speak (I could not say anything this professor could royally mess me up if I had spoken up) wrote the president of my university and my the dean of the history department and the professor that made these comments is having to apologize to the soldier and all his classes.

I guess I typed all of this out as reminder that people are listening and reading and you never know when you might hurt someone with a carelessly spoken word.

In other news. I am starting to get into a routine for classes I have 2 Monday, Tuesday, Wednedsay, and Thursday, and one on Friday, and 2 online. For a total of 6 classes. The history of the south to 1861, the US 1960-1989, and the history of modern Korea are my history classes. And I have Social Problems, Marriage and the Family, and Families across Cultures as my sociology classes. The only thing I hate is how Brett and I aren't getting to talk as often. But he got to call tonight and is going to try and get on yahoo tomorrow if the internet doesn't go down again.

Its late and snowing here. I'm about to go to bed and whisper a small prayer for a snow day

they never get old and I'm already behind because of the sheer number of classes and how my books aren't all here yet.

Hey, Warrior4Him! Those graphics were great!

Hey, I'm looking for a graphic of a pitcher, or ewer, pouring water. Maybe into a cup and the cup over flowing. Kind of like those fountains you see these days that burn out after a week. But with flowers and plants and butterflies around it. Do you think you could do something like that?

I have a scripture to go with it if you do, but I dont remember what it is right now. If you can do it, let me know, and I'll look it up.
I've been scouring photobucket, and cant find anything remotely like that.

I am so sorry that professor was so insensitive. And you are so right, we should pay attention to what we say. It is so easy to forget ourselves and yak without thinking. But I have an idea that the professor was expressing his personal views and doesnt care who it hurts. I'm glad your Dad was there for you to talk to.

I pray that you strengthen Amanda and give her the energy she needs to handle all this. Give her time to get caught up and get some rest, too! And be with Brett, protect him from all harm. Keep him warm and well fedm and bring him home safe, and soon! Amen!
