Got some bad news.

The big fire we had the other day, where we saved 8 houses was caused by arson. The arsonist was one of our own firefighters, and a few others. Its really sad, because we are respected as a group that protects others and their property and here, one of our own does this. He is suspected in several more fires, too. About 25 yrs ago, we had another one of our own burning abandoned houses. wow. Has it really been 25 yrs? Doesnt seem like it!

Great news, Amanda, about being able to talk to your sweetie! I just cant imagine how it must be for you, but we're here for ya!
When I cant go to sleep, I try to think of bible stories and imagine them like movies. Like the Nativity story. Or Jonah and the fish. Sometimes I get hung up on a detail and have to go research it to be accurate, but its a great way to really learn the bible stories! ha!
Had a real good new year, I painted awful pictures with my youngest daughter.

( I say awful because I am woefully out of practice!) Cuddled with the 1 yr old grandson. Then spent the day traveling with hubby

and visiting with the oldest daughter and 2 yr old grandson. Then we spent the night in Dallas in a very nice hotel. While hubby went to a meeting today, I did some bible study.

Now, we are waiting at a truck parts store, for a part that is being shipped in. Its cheaper to wait here for it than have it shipped the rest of the way. One of our fire trucks broke the radiator trying to get to some houses before they burned up at the big fire. We've got to get it up and running again. While we've been gone, there have been 5 fires. One of which was a very large grass fire running between houses again. They got it put out pretty quick, but it was bad enough hubby almost turned back home!
Its supposed to rain in the next couple of days. Maybe it'll give us some relief!

It is so nice being able to talk to Brett so much

I miss him like crazy and I wish they would tell us how long this deployment is going to be *sigh* its driving me insane but what ya gonna do? Wait and see I guess.

Sounds like a busy past couple of days!

The thing about arsonists is, when you have one, the first place you look is volunteer firefighters and security guards. They get the "hero" syndrome,

or bored. Our chief (my hubby) suspected him on some others and warned him, but he didnt listen. Now, we have to do damage control. Public image is very important to fire depts. because so many of them depend on donations for thier fundings. Even those that are funded by, say, the county, still need outside donations to supplement. Just a sad part of it.

That is still so sad

hopefully things can be worked out and ya'll don't have too much of a backlash if any backlash from this.

Brett will be home in 6-18 months :sigh:

Hey Violet! How many days is it?

The wives and I think even the soldiers are getting the impression that it will be 12-15 months but only time will tell.
