The Garden Hose
Can you remember your science classes from days past? You know the ones, where you would have all kinds of crazy experiments to do? The one that sticks out in my mind is the famous one of growing the seed. I remember we were given a little medicine cup, soil and this tiny little seed. The classroom became quite the messy place as we tenderly tried to fit the soil into this tiny cup. The cups were placed on the windowsill. We waited patiently to have it show some sign of life. Many trips were taken to that windowsill to see if any life was happening to that tiny seed. We were encouraged to water our seed. Now mind you, we only needed to put a tiny drop of water on our seed. Well, not all of us followed directions to well. We just for the life could not fathom why our plants were dying! We thought the more water we gave it, the faster it would grow. Wrong! They died. We purposefully did not mean to kill them. It just happened. Patience was not a virtue of many of us in that classroom. That brings me to the revelation that I had tonight. You see, there was this dear person whom I loved very much. I knew that this loved one knew God, but just needed some encouragement to strengthen their walk with God. Now mind you, I did not have patience back in that classroom, nor is patience a virtue within me. Strange isn’t it? It states when we accept the Lord Jesus Christ as our Savior, we are blessed with the spiritual gifts. Patience is one of those. I must have missed out on that one! Anyway what I learned tonight was I need to let God be the ultimate gardener in life. I need to let him tend to blooming his children here on earth. God’s word states the harvest is ripe. He wants us to plant the seeds. Yes, plant the seeds, not drown them with the garden hose. You may be asking yourself “what do you mean”? Let me explain. Has there ever been a time when you think if only this person would give it all to the Lord? Have you “forced” scripture down them? Have you kept forwarding email after email that talks of God? Have you ever had hour after hour talks with them, hoping every minute that they would “get it”? Have you ever told them point out blank that they are not walking with the Lord and that they really have a lot of issues that God needs to clean up? Have you ever gotten to the point that the time that you do get to spend with this loved one is all spent talking about how God can clean up their life and you do not take the time just to enjoy, laugh and have fun? These examples my friend are what I mean by drowning one with the garden hose. God’s word states in Matthew 17: 20- He replied, "Because you have so little faith. I tell you the truth, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there' and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you." The lesson that I had to learn is that small seeds can grow. Great journeys can start with a small seed. However, by to much over tending, and watering, seeds can die. The responsibility the Lord gives me is to go forth and share his word, to plant the seed. After I have done this and the seed has been planted, I need to keep my green thumbs and my garden hose out of God’s plan for the growth of that seed. God will grow that seed on his timing, not mine. Oh Lord, give me more patience, so that I may enjoy watching you grow and move in those I love. Faithwoman September 3, 2008 |

Good morning!
I have just got to say God is really moving here in NY! He has been so gracious to me this past week. He has really shown me alot! I have been putting my spiritual blinders on.. meaning I am really trying to focus on him and looking at my daily life to see what small and big things I have been doing that may be taking me away from my walk with him. I have been reading alot. The book Life Overflowing by T.D. Jakes really has shown me alot about grace, forgiveness and selfishness. While at a Divorce care support group the leader said Robin you always talk about Identity in Christ. I think maybe God wants you to read this book. Well, let me tell you, I opened it up and could not stop reading! The book is called Victory over the Darkness by Neil T. Anderson. Once again, our good Lord was speaking loud and clear. I saw my Christian counselor yesterday and he said I have a Dependency Disorder.. alot of my codependent ways have really been shown to me lately. I am an intelligent woman, but my mind races from one thing to the next and therefore nothing gets done! .. For this week coming ahead, the first thing I am working on is changing my after work routine. This is where I come home, face everything and my mind just runs right at 100mph! So I will now come home, sit down and do deep breathing exercises.. I will continue to look to the Lord to be my companion. I am finding much more balance at work. Next week, I fly to Phoenix for work. Now mind you I am not a world traveler at all. I know the good Lord will be with me. The best book of course to read is the Bible. I am doing more of that as well. I realize I love to read and I was allowing other things to get in my way including spending way to much time on the computer. On a daily basis God continues to put people in my life which is pretty exciting. This week-end we have a family wedding in PA. I hope all is well with everyone here. Have a super week-end Faithwoman |

Hey, Faithwoman! It is so wonderful to see God working in your life the way He has! You have come such a long way, and peace just oooozes out of your posts. Were you aware of that?
I havent spent as much time on the computer, either, for family reasons. And I get the feeling its only going to decrease more. Later!

Seems like many of us are being touched in this way. I am thankful for all I have learned here and in the Inner Room. My concentration now needs to be on living the life of excellence the Lord has provided for me. I filled out my paperwork for Student Aid and am looking to go back and start this November for my Batchelor's degree. Once I have my Batchelor's I will go on for my Master's. I am thinking of going for my Masters in Divivinity. I am going to let the Lord lead me in all. In the meantime the latest storm of my life is my car broke down. It may not be fixable, I will find out when I get back from Phoenix. I fly out of Buffalo, NY tomorrow to Phoenix for work. Praises to the Lord, for he is good! Hugs Faithwoman |

hey just quick note. Still in Phoenix.
They made arrangements for me to fly home to Philadelphia instead of Buffalo. I will fly in there and pick up the new car and then drive home the 7 hours. Wow, God sure is good, life is good. Got so many thoughts going through my head right now. Have a super day! Hugs Faithwoman |
