Thank you, Faithwoman! I needed that!
Yesterday, I was sitting in hubby's truck, waiting for him and I started to feel myself get down and depressed. At first, I was giving in to it, then something inside me said "what are you getting down FOR? What reason do you have?" I had none.
So I CHOSE to be joyful and uplifting and let me tell you, it made the day so much better!!!!

Hey, Granny! I hope hubby has a good report from all his tests!

Ya'll, I could use some prayers this afternoon. I have submitted some writing to be critiqued and some critiques are in. I havent looked at it yet. But I need wisdom and grace and humbleness to receive whatever was said about my writing. EEEEP!

Default Great message

Got this in email today:
THE PURPOSE DRIVEN LIFE--

You will enjoy the new insights that Rick Warren has, with his wife now having cancer and him having 'wealth' from the book sales. This is an absolutely incredible short interview with Rick Warren,

'Purpose Driven Life ' author and pastor of Saddleback Church in California

In the interview by Paul Bradshaw with Rick Warren, Rick said:

People ask me, What is the purpose of life? And I respond: In a nutshell, life is preparation for eternity. W e were not made to last forever, and God wants us to be with Him in Heaven.

One day my heart is going to stop, and that will be the end of my body-- but not the end of me.

I may live 60 to 100 years on earth, but I am going to spend trillions of years in eternity. This is the warm-up act - the dress rehearsal. God wants us to practice on earth what we will do forever in et ernity.

We were made by God and for God, and until you figure that out, life isn't going to make sense.

Life is a series of problems: Either you are in one now, you're just coming out of one, or you're getting ready to go into another one.

The reason for this is that God is more interested in your character than your comfort.

God is more interested in making your life holy than He is in making your life happy.

We can be reasonably happy here on earth, but that's not the goal of life. The goal is to grow in character, in Christ likeness.

This past year has been the greatest year of my life but also the toughest, with my wife, Kay, getting cancer.

I used to think that life was hills and valleys - you go through a dark time, then you go to the mountaintop, back and forth. I don't believe that anymore.

Rather than life being hills and valleys, I believe that it's kind of like two rails on a railroad track, and at all times you have something good and something bad in your life.

No matter how good things are in your life, there is always something bad that needs to be worked on.

And no matter how bad things are in your life, there is always something good you can thank God for.

You can focus on your purposes, or you can focus on your problems.

If you focus on your problems, you're going into self-centeredness, 'which is my problem, my issues, my pain.' But one of the easiest ways to get rid of pain is to get your focus off yourself and onto God and others.

We discovered quickly that in spite of the prayers of hundreds of thousands of people, God was not going to heal Kay or make it easy for her.

It has been very difficult for her, and yet God has strengthened her character, given her a ministry of helping other people, given her a testimony, drawn her closer to Him and to people.

You have to learn to deal with both the good and the bad of life.

Actually, sometimes learning to deal with the good is harder. For instance, this past year, all of a sudden, when the book sold 15 million copies, it made me instantly very wealthy.

It also brought a lot of notoriety that I had never had to deal with before. I don't think God gives you money or notoriety for your own ego or for you to live a life of ease.

So I began to ask God what He wanted me to do with this money, notoriety and influence. He gave me two different passages that helped me decide what to do, II Corinthians 9 and Psalm 72

First, in spite of all the money coming in, we would
not change
our lifestyle one bit. We made no major purchases.
Second, about midway through last year, I stopped taking a salary from the church.

Third, we set up foundations to fund an initiative we call The Peace Plan to plant churches, equip leaders, assist the poor, care for the sick, and educate the next generation.

Fourth, I added up all that the church had paid me in the 24 years since I started the church, and I gave it all back. It was liberating to be able to serve God for free.

We need to ask ourselves: Am I going to live for possessions? Popularity?

Am I going to be driven by pressures? Guilt? Bitterness? Materialism? Or am I going to be driven by God's purposes (for my life)?

When I get up in the morning, I sit on the side of my bed and say, God, if I don't get anything else done today, I want to know You more and love You better. God didn't put me on earth just to fulfill a to-do list. He's more interested in what I am than what I do.
<
That's why we're called human beings, not human doings.

Happy moments, PRAISE GOD.
Difficult moments, SEEK GOD.
Quiet moments, WORSHIP GOD.
Painful moments, TRUST GOD.
Every moment, THANK GOD.
</B>

What a great message! I tried to put it here in smaller print for easier reading, but It did not work..

Fluffy,
That is awesome! Where did you submit to? I am in the process of signing up for a local writing class. It is called " Going to work in your bathrobe.. they accept 8 people for the class, so pray for me, that if it is of God for me to go, I will get accepted.

I just recently had joined another online writing forum as well.

Take care

We had rain. We had rain. Then we had more rain. No flooding in my area, but the river is pretty full and very muddy. Means there is water coming down the creek. I guess this was from "Fay" that wet and flooded so much of Florida. Anyway, we are thankful. May get some showers in the next couple of days.

Hope the writing critique goes well and you are successfull. Remember, success is not always measured by acceptance. Success is also measure by completion and endurance. Go for it!

Awesome words Granny!

Today is special! It is my daughter's 16th birthday. 16 years ago the Lord blessed with me my daughter. He is restoring this relationship! Praise the Lord. I will make the 5 hour round trip to see her today. She has to work tonite. originally I was going down for dinner with her and her dad and grandparents. Now she has to work, so I am going down to suprise her.

Pray for safe travels. I may stay on way back with a girlfriend that is half way between here and there.

On my knees this morning asking God to keep me on his Perfect will for my life.

I may not be on for a few days.
God Bless you all!

Oh, Granny G! First Fay, and now Gustov! Is it supposed to affect your area? Goodness! Enough's enough, dont you think? Send some of that my way, if you please!

Happy Birthday to Faithwoman's daughter! I am so glad your relationship with her is healing! Keep in mind that it takes time. It wont happen all at once. (been there, done that...now what did I do with the t-shirt?)

Hey! The critique went better than I had hoped! Not so much getting accollades. I"m not looking for those (though they wouldnt hurt!) But getting some constructive feedback in how I can get better. And boy, do I need improvement! ha!
I got some really good advice and am working on implementing it.
There is a weekly challenge on that site and I am participating, not for the competition, but to challenge myself to improve and have a steady rise in placement. I've only gotten one comment on my first weekly challenge entry, and no constructive feedback on it. They like it, but that's all they could say about it.

Default Quick note

Hey I am back from PA.. saw my daughter. A few things happened.. some good , some bad. But God is still working, he always will! Praises to him.

I spent Fri nite in my old town with a girlfriend. I picked up the book
Get out of the Pit by Beth Moore. If anyone has not read, I highly suggest it! It was awesome. I stayed up late and finished reading it this morning.

Also, listened to some CD's from Joyce Meyer while in my travels,
She stated to stop focusing on our weaknesses and focus on what our gifts and talents are and what we are good at.. For example, some of us may like to sew or cook and are great at it, some of us are musically inclined, some are good speakers etc..

So for me, my weakness is cooking.. I am not good at it, but I am good at writing, talking and sharing. I need to focus on excelling at those things and not spend my time trying to be Miss Chef of NY! We have got to stop trying to be someone we are not. We need to focus on the things we are good at and not the things we are not. Make sense? This is just a short version of the message.

I went to church last nite, got a call from one of the gentleman in the Divorce Care group. We had talked about me wanting to try Kayaking. He called and said before you do that, how about we try canoeing first?
He is coming in hour to pick me up to go on the lake to try this out.

I was on my knees this morning praising God for showing me what has kept me in my pit. With pits, we sometimes, slip in , are thrown in or just plain jump in! But there is a way out and we can have deliverance! Praise the Lord!

Ok ..got to scoot!
Pray that the canoe does not tip over!

Hugs
Faithwoman!

Have fun!

One time, after we were only married for a short time, hubby and I went with a group of friends and rafted down the Rio Grande from the Big Bend area. It was great! But I am too old for overnight sleeping on the ground! ugh!
