I wish I had a nickel for every pack of cigarettes that I slung out my moving car window, while saying I was quitting, yet to head straight to the store to buy another pack.

Then finally in the mid '90's, as per the request of my father, as to his gift for Christmas, I quit (cold turkey). I quit for 6 years, until I let stress get the best of me and started again.

2002, I was hit with coronary artery disease and a 95% blockage, which came with 4 stents. On the day I was released from the hospital, as soon as I got in the car, I lit up, took a puff (the nastiest taste I had ever experienced) and threw it out the window. That was my last.

Up until 2002, I had not been living the walk with Christ, and I fully believe that everything that happened to me was due to not following Him as I should...amazing how a couple of smacks up side the head get one's attention.

In the last three years I have suffered the worst stress any one could imagine, and I am proud to say that with Him back in my life, He has given me the desire not to light up again.

Hey ForgivenWretch! I know what you mean! Since I have quit for good, been under some stress. Especially during the refinery fire! There was a pack of cigarettes laying out in the open during all that. I looked at it and thought: "Ordinarily, this situation would make me want to pick it back up. Do I?" And the answer was "NO!"

I turned around and walked away without one second thought until just now.
Have you ever walked into a store (after firmly deciding to quit) and before you realized what happened, you had bought a pack of cigarettes?

I did that SEVERAL times!
Faithwoman, am praying that your weekend is full of fun, sweetness,

fellowship and the Presence of God! That you are filled with energy, and your thoughts are filled with Him!

Fluffy, yes I have, and I was smoking 3-4 packs a day. I am so glad though that now the mere smell of smoke sickens me. My oldest son, smokes and it really bothers me, esp. after all of the begging he did wanting me to stop. Hopefully some day he will realize what he is doing and will quit.

ALL of my kids smoke after begging me for years to quit! I finally quit, and they pick it up!

I am surrounded by smoke all the time, and usually it doesnt bother me unless it gets right in my face. hac!

Wow! 3-4 packs a day! That was quite an accomplishment in quitting!

Hey You all . I am proud of you.Keep on trusting in the Lord . He will see you through.

I am so fortunate not to have ever started that adiction but know how devastating it can lead to as have seen first hand , as a nurse the effects on the body.

Why must everything that's bad...taste so good?

I quit smoking, gave up caffeine and if only I could let go of the

, maybe, just maybe, I would be okay. Yeah right, guess I will still have to give up all of those bad foods. Shucks, does it ever end?
