Are you a servant of the Most High God?

Luke 17:10
So likewise ye, when ye shall have done all those things which are commanded you, say, We are unprofitable servants: we have done that which was our duty to do.
This has become one of those "life verses" for me. I have fought and will continue to fight the "thoughts and ways of the world" to think of myself as anything else otherwise it could lead to the sins of pride and self-sufficiency; two lies of the enemy; just illusions and deceptions from the Pit. I have learned to embrace this scripture; not just the first part but the second half as well. Firstly, Our Lord Jesus came to serve; not to be served.
Matthew 20:27-29 (KJV)
And whosoever will be chief among you, let him be your servant: Even as the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.
Before I was saved, I was a one of those "good" people. Maybe it was because the Lord had His hand upon me at a young age; I was 10 when I asked Jesus into my heart but several years went by before I made Him Lord of my life. I was talented, interested in people and self-seeking like most people. But the Lord gifted me with a knowledge of Him; a faith and understanding to know that I was made for HIS GLORY and that He was NOT someone to just make my life better. I was made to serve my God.
I remember after having sung a classical aria in a Presbyterian church (some would say that they believe that they "earn" their salvation through their good works) many people come up to compliment my voice and singing and I told them to "thank God" because He gave me the gift to use for Him. They were confused by this and may have thought that I should "take credit" for my gift ...this is the wrong attitude for a servant to have. Upon bowing my knee to my Lord in repentance, I submitted myself to discipleship study in the Word of God and I understood "in the midst of the "ME" generation" that this NEW LIFE wasn't about me...it is all about JESUS!!!

Matthew 6:24 (KJV)
Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.
Today, I constantly have many who admire me and say many complimentary words of the work that my Lord has allowed me to do for Him. It is my joy to worship Him and lead others into worship; encourage with prophetic prayer; write songs of praise and worship for the congregation, play my harp and tambourine in the congregation. In other words; I "have" things and accomplishments that I could "take pride in" and become arrogant or think myself more highly than I ought and I REFUSE to do so.
2 Corinthians 10:4-5
(For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds
Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;
Secondly, we need to evaluate ourselves and ask "am I doing what I am told?" How many "small deeds" have we been asked to do and think that they are "beneath us"? There is no insignificant service to the Lord...and in my opinion, there is NO GREAT service to the Lord...IT IS FOR HIM; not for us. We are called to be servants; ones with the basin and the towel like our Lord when He washed His disciples' feet.Let us all seek to be servants of God who desire to do what "we are told" and then not think of ourselves more highly for having done it; it was "our duty" and our joy to serve Him with our lives.
Let's pray:
Oh Lord God, our Creator and Redeemer; the Father of our Lord Jesus who purchased our salvation and is coming again to claim His Bride, we worship You. We thank You for being the Most High God; most Holy being and for allowing us to come before Your Throne of Grace for ALL manner of requests but most of all, may we come to give you PRAISE for who You are. Allow us Lord to serve you with willing and contrite hearts; being filled with Your Holy Spirit and power; let us take up our cross today and bear it willingly and cheerfully serve and love You with all our hearts, soul and might. We are earthen vessels that hold the treasure of Your Holy Spirit; and pray that all others may clearly see that the excellency of the power (in us) is You and not of ourselves. Thank You for saving us and giving us everything pertaining to life and godliness; may our lives; the words of our mouths and the meditations of our hearts be pleasing to You Oh Lord; Our Rock and Our Redeemer. We pray in the most wonderful name of Jesus...amen.

So likewise ye, when ye shall have done all those things which are commanded you, say, We are unprofitable servants: we have done that which was our duty to do.
